Nigeria’s Super Eagles will receive approximately N7.28 million for each goal they score at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.

They will hope to earn more from tonight’s clash with the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

The Group C encounter will kick off at 9 pm Nigeria time.

Have no mercy on them—Pastor Enenche hails US military strike on terrorists in Nigeria

0

The General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Paul Enenche, has expressed satisfaction over the reported involvement of the United States military in counterterrorism operations in Nigeria.

According to reports, the US military carried out an operation on Christmas night in Sokoto State, during which about 12 Tomahawk missiles were deployed against suspected Islamic extremists. The action was said to have been authorized by former US President Donald Trump and carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian government.

Sources indicated that several terrorists were neutralized during the operation.

Speaking during a church service in Abuja, Enenche, who has consistently spoken out against the killing of innocent Nigerians, said the development was encouraging and warned that more terrorists would face similar outcomes.

He also stated that those who sponsor, support, or collaborate with terrorists should not be spared.

“There are people who said if America comes, they will fight them. Let them go and fight the drones now,” Enenche said.

He added, “I have bad news for every terrorist, every sponsor, collaborator, and negotiator. I believe they should be dealt with gradually and without delay.”

He gave me $10,000 to shut me up—Doris Ogala rejects Pastor Chris Okafor settlement

0

Popular Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has rejected a $10,000 settlement allegedly offered by the founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor.

Ogala disclosed this in a video recorded on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, and shared on her Instagram page on Saturday. She said the cleric brought the money as part of a settlement and pleaded with her to publicly retract allegations she had earlier made against him.

According to the actress, the money was given in two tranches of $5,000 each after what she described as “table talks” between both parties. She further alleged that Okafor asked her to claim she was sponsored by other pastors to accuse him.

“This is $10,000. He gave me this $5,000 last night after we talked and he was pleading, then another $5,000 this afternoon,” she said.

Ogala accused the cleric of attempting to induce her to shift blame to other pastors in exchange for debunking her claims.

“You can imagine this man wanted me to come and say that some pastors were the ones who sent me to fight him… and then I should come out and debunk everything I have said,” she stated.

Rejecting the settlement, the actress insisted she would not lie or implicate anyone falsely.

“Chris, this money will never be a transaction of anything in my life. Everything I have said is the truth. I’m not lying, and I will never lie,” she said.

She added that accepting the money was only to show the public that it was offered to her.

“Ten thousand dollars is nothing to me. I’m not blackmailing you, but I wanted the world to see that you actually gave me money,” Ogala declared.

Nigerian Newssphere  reports that the development comes days after the actress confirmed that reconciliation talks were ongoing between her and the cleric.

Recall that Ogala had earlier accused Pastor Okafor of dumping her for another woman after allegedly promising to marry her.

Nigerian govt announces improvement in electricity supply nationwide

0

The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), has announced a significant improvement in electricity generation nationwide following the repair of critical gas infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Friday, NISO said the development came after the successful restoration of the Lagos–Escravos gas supply line, which was previously damaged by vandalism.

According to the operator, the repair works were recently completed by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), leading to improved gas supply to several key thermal power plants across the country.

NISO added that other thermal power plants remain operational and on standby, awaiting confirmation of gas supply from their respective suppliers before resuming full generation.

The operator explained that power offtake by the affected plants is being carried out gradually to ensure a smooth recovery and maintain the stability of both the gas supply network and the national electricity grid.

“This cautious approach is designed to prevent system stress and ensure a reliable electricity supply for industries, businesses and households,” the statement said.

NISO further noted that additional plants will be integrated into the national grid as gas supply is confirmed, a move expected to boost generation capacity and reduce the risk of power outages.

New Tax Laws: Nigerians distrust Tinubu Govt’s use of taxes—Financial Analyst, Kalu Aja

0

Financial analyst Kalu Aja has said Nigerians’ opposition to the newly enacted tax laws is rooted in a deep lack of trust in the federal government’s ability to manage public funds transparently.

Aja made the assertion in a post on X on Friday, reacting to the ongoing controversy surrounding the tax reforms recently signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

His comments came shortly after the Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, reiterated that implementation of the new tax laws would commence on January 1, 2026, despite widespread criticism.

According to Aja, Nigerians are unconvinced that tax revenues would be prudently spent for public benefit, noting that the extravagant lifestyles of public officials have further fueled public skepticism.

He also faulted the lack of transparency surrounding the tax laws, arguing that citizens have not been adequately informed about the content and administration of the reforms.

Aja further alleged that successive Nigerian governments have failed to use tax revenues in ways that significantly improve citizens’ lives.

“The issue is trust. Nigerians don’t trust the government with the power to spend their taxes properly on their behalf,” he wrote on X.

“Between the National Assembly and the Presidency, we don’t even have a credible copy of the tax bill, yet Nigerians are expected to pay these taxes. The taxes Nigerians have already paid—how were they spent?

“If you want Western-style taxes, then there must be Western-style transparency,” Aja added.

Nigerian Newsphere recalls that a member of the House of Representatives, Abdulsamman Dasuki, recently raised concerns over alleged alterations to the country’s tax laws, reigniting controversy around the reforms.

Following the allegations, the National Assembly, in an update on Friday, directed that the tax laws be re-gazetted to address the concerns raised.
