Morocco became the first team to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a convincing 3-0 victory over co-hosts Canada in their Round of 16 clash.
The Atlas Lions produced another commanding display to continue their impressive run in the tournament, comfortably dispatching the hosts to reach the last eight.
Azzedine Ounahi starred for the North African side, scoring twice in the second half. The midfielder broke the deadlock in the 50th minute before adding his second goal in the 82nd minute to put Morocco firmly in control.
Substitute Soufiane Rahimi sealed the emphatic victory deep into stoppage time, finding the back of the net in the 90th minute to complete the rout.
The result makes Morocco the first nation to qualify for the quarter-finals of the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, further underlining their growing reputation as one of the tournament’s standout teams.
They will now await the winner of the Round of 16 clash between France and Paraguay as they continue their quest for World Cup glory.
