Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Saturday ignored the poor and presented a brand new car to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, handed over the car keys to Wike during a ceremony held in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Amaewhule described the gift as a Christmas token from the lawmakers and their families, urging Wike to regard them as his “other children” at the Rivers State House of Assembly quarters.
According to him, the presentation was part of the 2025 Christmas celebration and a show of appreciation to the former Rivers State governor.
“On behalf of members, our spouses, and children, we present to you the keys to a 2025 Toyota Camry,” Amaewhule said, adding that although Wike already owns several cars, the lawmakers hoped he would “add this one” to his collection.
A video of the presentation has since circulated on social media.
