Outrage as Odumeje Challenges Pastors to ‘Miracle Contest’

0

Controversial Anambra cleric, Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, popularly known as Prophet Odumeje, has stirred fresh debate after publicly challenging other pastors to a miracle competition.

Speaking during a service, the self-styled preacher declared himself “the greatest pastor in the world,” claiming no other spiritual leader can rival his spiritual abilities or “supernatural strength.”

Odumeje, famous for his theatrical sermons and bold declarations, said he possesses powers he has not yet revealed and invited any pastor who doubts him to face him in what he described as a spiritual face-off.

“All the pastors in the world know that I am the greatest. Nobody reaches me,” he said.

“If you say I am not greater than you, come out for a challenge. Come out, let us do miracles. I have extra power for competition—extra power for ‘incase of incasity’.”

His comments have drawn widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning his claims and the motivation behind the challenge.

Niger School Abduction: We can’t confirm release of 100 students

0

The Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says it has not received any official confirmation regarding reports that 100 students kidnapped from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, have been released.

In a statement on Monday, the state CAN chairman, Bishop Bulus Yohanna, said neither the association nor the affected communities had been formally informed of any development.

“It will be a thing of joy if some of our children have been released. We have been praying and waiting for their return,” he said. “If it is true, then it is cheering news. However, we are not officially aware and have not been duly notified. We hope and pray it’s true and look forward to when the remaining will be released.”

The mass abduction occurred on November 21, 2025, when armed bandits invaded the school and took 315 people—303 students and 12 teachers. About 50 pupils escaped within the first 24 hours and were reunited with their families.

Last week, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu visited the school and assured parents that the remaining abductees were safe and would soon return home.

Reacting to reports of the alleged release during a Channels Television programme on Sunday, former Director of Media Operations at the Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche (retd.), praised the Federal Government and security agencies, describing the development as a “significant breakthrough.”

“My take is that the government and the security agencies have done a lot, and I believe that Nigerians will be happy for this,” Enenche said. “I can tell you that it is not easy, whichever way or means were used to get these children out.”

TikTok announces restriction on Nigeria

0

TikTok has introduced a temporary restriction preventing users in Nigeria from going live during late-night hours.

The platform issued an in-app notification to creators over the weekend, explaining that the measure is part of an ongoing safety investigation.

At midnight on Sunday (Nigerian time), users received a system alert titled “LIVE Notices,” which read: “TikTok LIVE Update in Nigeria: We’re temporarily limiting LIVE late at night in Nigeria as part of our investigation to ensure our platform remains safe and our community stays protected.”

Live sessions that had been available earlier in the evening were subsequently blocked between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., with affected accounts showing a “No Access” message.

The restriction also stopped Nigerian creators from viewing live broadcasts hosted in other countries during the affected hours.

Obasanjo reveals four ways to end insecurity in Nigeria

Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has identified intelligence, training, equipment, and technology as the four critical pillars needed to effectively confront Nigeria’s escalating security challenges.

Obasanjo made the remarks on Sunday during The Toyin Falola Interviews, held via Zoom and anchored by Professor Toyin Falola. He was joined in the conversation by Bishop Matthew Kukah, founder of the Kukah Centre, and former presidential candidate, Professor Kingsley Moghalu.

The former president warned that insecurity has now spread to every part of the country, insisting that Nigeria must adopt a modern, comprehensive strategy to restore peace. Strengthening intelligence gathering, improving the training of security personnel, adequately equipping the armed forces, and integrating advanced technology, he said, are essential steps.

“When I talk about intelligence, training, equipment, and technology, I know exactly what I am saying,” Obasanjo noted. “Beyond all these, we must cultivate the right attitude—an honest commitment—to confront insecurity decisively.”

Obasanjo also cautioned the federal government against leaving any region behind in ongoing security operations, stressing that the scale of the problem demands both national unity and international cooperation.

He argued that the country’s security crisis has outgrown regional boundaries and should now be treated as a nationwide emergency. According to him, there is no shame in seeking global support if the government finds itself overstretched.

“We have security challenges across the South-East, South-West, and North-East. This is a national issue,” he said. “If our government is overwhelmed, there is nothing wrong with turning to the international community. We are part of a global family, and the world has a vested interest in our peace and stability.”

Obasanjo further expressed concern over the growing population of out-of-school children, warning that failure to address the problem could create long-term security risks for the country.

Beninese media outlets report that an attempted coup is unfolding in Cotonou after armed soldiers attacked the residence of President Patrice Talon in the Le Guézo area early Sunday, December 7, 2025.

According to TchadOne, the assault was led by Lieutenant Colonel Pascal Tigri. Tensions rose further later in the morning when Tigri appeared on national television — which the outlet says was under military control — announcing himself as the “chairman of the military re-establishment committee.”

Cotonou remains on edge, with eyewitnesses reporting heavy troop deployments around major strategic sites. As of now, President Talon and his government have not issued any official statement on the attack or the broader security situation.

The incident adds to mounting political unrest across West Africa.

TchadOne says it will provide continuous updates as the situation develops.

Talon safe as loyalist forces regain control after brief coup scare

Meanwhile, Benin’s President Patrice Talon is safe, and security forces are restoring order after a faction of soldiers claimed to have removed him from power, the presidency announced on Sunday.

In a brief statement, the presidency dismissed the soldiers’ declaration as the actions of a fringe group with limited influence.

“This is a small group of individuals who only managed to seize the television station. The regular army is steadily regaining control. Both the city and the entire country remain completely secure,” the statement said.

The clarification follows an earlier broadcast by soldiers identifying themselves as the “Military Committee for Refoundation,” who declared that Talon had been removed from office.

The government has since described the broadcast as an isolated disruption, assuring citizens that the situation is under control.
