I’m tired- Comedienne Princess begs Nigerian Pastors for prayers to get husband[VIDEO]

0

Nigerian comedienne Princess has appealed to prominent pastors, including Femi Lazarus, Phillip Olubakin, Bolaji Idowu, Jerry Eze, and Apostle Selman, to help her find a suitable husband from within their congregations.

Princess made the appeal in an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, where she openly asked the clerics to allow God to use them for her marital breakthrough.

The divorced entertainer said she had prayed and fasted before summoning the courage to record and share the video publicly.

Addressing the pastors directly, she questioned whether none of the churches under their leadership had a responsible and kind man who could be introduced to her for marriage.

Explaining her decision to speak out, Princess said she was tired of waiting and pleaded with the five clerics to spare 30 minutes to review the list of single men in their churches who are in their 40s or early 50s and connect her with a potential partner.

Nigerian Newssphere recalls that the comedian, whose real name is Oluwadamilola Adekoya, got married in May 2013 but divorced barely two weeks later due to irreconcilable differences.

“Pastor Femi Lazarus, Phillip Olubakin, Bolaji Idowu, Jerry Eze, and Apostle Selman, are you saying that in all your church, there’s no man that’s responsible and kind to link me up with?

“That’s why I’m doing this video because I’m tired. I’m begging the five of you, spare me 30 minutes to go through the list of single men in your church that are in their 40s or early 50s and connect me with for marriage.”

The video has since sparked mixed reactions on social media.

The Board disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday night. The announcement, signed by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, confirmed that the UTME is open to suitably qualified candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

According to JAMB, registration for the 2026 UTME will begin in January 2026 and close in March 2026, while the examination itself is scheduled to hold in April 2026. Specifically, UTME registration for candidates, including those from foreign countries, will run from Monday, January 26, 2026, to Saturday, February 28, 2026.

The Board reiterated that all candidates must obtain their National Identification Number (NIN) before registering. It also stated that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are generally eligible to apply.

JAMB, however, noted that candidates below 16 years by the stipulated date may be considered for a waiver after undergoing an intensive evaluation process. Such candidates must score not less than 80 percent in each of UTME or A-Level, Post-UTME, SSCE, and the exceptional candidate assessment. Their UTME results will only be released after the completion of the evaluation process.

AFCON Semi-final: ‘Nigeria could punish ‘us’—Morocco coach Regragui on what Atlas Lions must do

0

Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has outlined key areas his team must get right when they face Nigeria in Wednesday night’s AFCON semi-final clash.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Regragui stressed the importance of concentration and winning individual battles across the pitch, warning that Nigeria would punish any mistakes.

The 50-year-old tactician noted that his players must avoid the lapses in focus seen in their previous match, particularly against Cameroon, and instead maintain intensity throughout the game.

“We need to stay focused and win our duels against Nigeria. We must not retreat like we did against Cameroon because they can punish us,” Regragui said during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

He added that Morocco must raise their performance level in the second half to prevent the Super Eagles from gaining momentum.

“We have to increase our intensity after the break, not give Nigeria space to breathe, and ensure they don’t impose their technical quality on the game,” he said.

Nigeria and Morocco both booked their places in the semi-finals after impressive victories, with the Super Eagles defeating Algeria, while the Atlas Lions edged past Ivory Coast.

The Federal Government has announced the launch of a high-purity gold refinery in Lagos and is preparing to commission a $600 million lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State, as part of efforts to position Nigeria as a major minerals hub in Africa.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, disclosed this on Tuesday during a meeting with the Saudi Arabian Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, ahead of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to Alake, the establishment of lithium processing and gold refining facilities across the country is already yielding tangible results under Nigeria’s value-addition policy. He said the Lagos gold refinery is fully operational, while three other refineries are at different stages of development nationwide.

He added that the lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State, valued at $600 million, is ready for commissioning, noting that such projects are strengthening Nigeria’s role as a global partner in the supply of minerals critical to the green energy transition.

Alake commended Saudi Arabia for fostering collaboration among countries across Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe through the FMF, and expressed Nigeria’s willingness to deepen cooperation with the Kingdom in the solid minerals sector.

“There are areas where Saudi Arabia excels and others where Nigeria has comparative advantages,” the minister said, stressing the need for structured agreements focused on capacity building, training, technology transfer and mineral exploration.

He also highlighted Nigeria’s vast deposits of critical minerals and rare earth elements, underscoring the importance of using the FMF platform to build partnerships based on fairness, equity and mutual benefit.

Reflecting on engagements since the 2025 FMF, Alake revealed that a joint working group involving Nigerian officials and the Saudi Chamber of Commerce has been active over the past year, with its report ready for presentation before the end of the current forum.

The minister further called for cooperation on mineral traceability, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards, and mine-pit remediation, noting that these measures are essential for boosting investor confidence and ensuring sustainable mining practices.

In his response, Al-Khorayef reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to its partnership with Nigeria and proposed the drafting of a memorandum of understanding on solid minerals development, with the aim of signing it on the sidelines of the FMF.

He also urged Nigeria to showcase investment opportunities in its mining sector to Saudi investors and encouraged African countries to adopt advanced mining technologies, noting that Nigeria stands to benefit from Saudi Arabia’s experience in the sector.

Serious flaws- Why Nigerian Govt should suspend tax laws now- Peter Obi

Serious flaws- Why FG should suspend tax laws now- Peter Obi

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has called on the Federal Government to immediately suspend the enforcement of the newly introduced tax law, citing fundamental flaws in its content and implementation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Obi said recent findings have made it clear that the tax framework has been significantly altered in ways that raise serious concerns. He referenced a report by global accounting firm KPMG, which reportedly identified 31 critical problem areas in the law, ranging from drafting errors and policy contradictions to administrative shortcomings.

According to Obi, the findings should compel the government to take urgent corrective action. He expressed concern that the scale of the problems only became apparent after private engagements between the National Revenue Service and KPMG, questioning how ordinary Nigerians are expected to understand their tax obligations under such a complex and unclear system.

Obi stressed that taxation goes beyond revenue generation, describing it as a social contract between the state and its citizens that must be built on trust, clarity, and mutual benefit. He argued that effective tax systems around the world are tied to visible public benefits such as quality healthcare, education, infrastructure, job creation, and social protection.

He lamented that Nigeria’s current approach focuses more on increasing government revenue than on demonstrating what citizens stand to gain in return. A tax system without clear and tangible public value, he warned, cannot be regarded as reform.

The former governor also criticised the absence of broad consultations with stakeholders, including businesses, workers, and civil society, before the tax laws were finalized. He noted that such engagements are essential for building legitimacy and public confidence.

Obi further pointed out that Nigerians are still struggling with the economic impact of subsidy removal, including rising food prices, high transport costs, and declining purchasing power, with little evidence of relief or benefits. Introducing a wide-ranging new tax regime under these conditions, he said, would only worsen the hardship faced by citizens.

He concluded that without trust, clarity, and visible public benefit, taxation becomes punitive rather than progressive, urging the government to listen to citizens, communicate transparently, and build national consensus as a foundation for genuine reform and shared prosperity.

“Nigeria cannot afford to place further burdens on its already struggling citizens. What we need is a government that listens, communicates effectively, and prioritises building national consensus. This is the only viable path to genuine reform, unity, growth, and shared prosperity.”

Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have intercepted a Golf vehicle conveying a large cache of explosive materials at a checkpoint in Koza, Daura Local Government Area.

Daura is the hometown of the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

The interception was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu. He said the operation followed intelligence-led stop-and-search activities carried out by officers on January 7.

According to Aliyu, the vehicle was driven by a 40-year-old man, Jamilu Musa. A search of the car led to the recovery of 6,975 detonators, which were neatly concealed.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he received the explosive materials from one Najib, who is currently at large, while travelling from Kano State to Kongolam in Mai’adua Local Government Area of Katsina State,” the police spokesman said.

Aliyu added that further investigations resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects, identified as Ibrahim Murtala and Sulaiman Muhammad.

“Following their arrest, 7,500 electric detonators and 30 and a half bags of gelatine explosives, weighing a total of 2,273.65 kilograms, were recovered,” he stated.

The police said all suspects have confessed to their involvement in the offence and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Aliyu explained that the operation was carried out in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on enhanced vigilance and intelligence-driven patrols, particularly along major highways.
