Easter: Pure negligence—BRGIE condemns mass killings in Nigeria, provides support for victims

0

The Biafran Republic Government in Exile has condemned mass killing in Nigeria on Palm Sunday in Plateau, Benue, and other parts of Nigeria.

BRGIE disclosed this in a statement by its prime minister, Ogechukwu Nkere, on Monday.

Nkere described the killing as far too many, which has led to the loss of the lives of innocent Biafrans to terrorists.

He stated that the Nigerian government has not only failed to address the menace but also has failed to take action.

Nkere accused the Nigerian government of negligence and inaction towards widespread insecurity in the country.

The Prime Minister reiterated that BRGIE has kicked off policy actions to support Christians persecuted in the Middle Belt and Northern Nigeria.

“Hon. Ogechukwu Nkere, Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), extends his deepest condolences to the victims of the suicide bombings in Maiduquri, Nigeria, last month, as well as to those affected by the recent killings of Christians in Jos during Palm Sunday. Far too many innocent lives—both in Biafra and across Nigeria—have been lost to acts of extremist violence. The Nigerian government has not only failed to effectively address this crisis but, through negligence and inaction, has allowed insecurity to persist and worsen.

“This ongoing failure has created conditions in which violence continues to spread, with devastating consequences for civilians. During the attacks in Maiduguri, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was reportedly attending engagements in the United Kingdom, even as security conditions at home deteriorated. Meanwhile, the killings in Jos drew international attention and condemnation.

“This apparent disconnect between

Leadership and the realities on the ground raise serious concerns about the

government’s ability to fulfill its fundamental responsibility: protecting its citizens.

“As a result, many Nigerians remain exposed, vulnerable, and without adequate security. This situation reflects a troubling gap in governance and accountability.

“In response, BRGIE has formalized its support for Christians in Nigeria’s Middle Belt and Northern regions.

“On February 27, 2026, BRGIE adopted Legislation Bill No. 02262026, titled ‘Official BRGIE Policy of Support for Persecuted Christians in Northern and Middle Belt Nigeria.'”

“This policy establishes a framework for active solidarity and assistance. Once again, we extend our deepest sympathies to all victims and their families,” he stated.

Recall that at least 20 persons were killed in coordinated attacks in Nyamgo, Gyel, Jos South Local Government, Plateau State, and Gwer East Local Government of Benue, respectively.

The killings come the day after President Tinubu visited Plateau over the massacre in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North LGA, which led to the death of between 27 and 51 persons.

She’s a liar, forger—NMA asks Nigerian police to arrest Blessing, CEO

0

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State chapter, has distanced itself from a histology report circulating online and allegedly linked to relationship coach Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO.

The association stated that the document in question was altered from an original medical report issued to a different patient diagnosed with breast cancer.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the NMA Delta State chairman, Dr. Israel Adaigho, and secretary, Dr. Usamah Hannah, as cited by Nigerian Newssphere on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the report being circulated online was purportedly issued by Xinus Medical Diagnostics and signed by consultant pathologist Dr. O.A. Odigwe. However, the association said the proprietor of the diagnostic center clarified that the document did not belong to Blessing Okoro.

The NMA further noted that Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State, not Enugu State, as indicated in the viral report.

It explained that in May 2025, the center was contacted by a doctor from a private hospital in Asaba to conduct a confirmatory test for a patient identified as Mbara Deborah over a suspected case of breast cancer. The test was carried out, and the result was issued to the referring doctor on May 9, 2025, confirming the diagnosis.

According to the association, the original report bearing the name Mbara Deborah is the same document currently being circulated online by the law firm, Allen Juris Law.

The NMA added that the report being presented by Blessing Okoro appears to be an altered version of the original result.

The statement read in part:

“Our attention has been drawn to an online histology report purportedly issued to one Blessing Okoro, aka Blessing CEO, by Xinus Medical Diagnostics allegedly located in Enugu State. The said histology report was also alleged to have been signed by Dr. O.A. Odigwe, a consultant pathologist.

“The proprietor of Xinus Medical Diagnostics, Dr. O.A. Odigwe, who is also a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State chapter, has reached us and offered the following clarification: that Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State, and did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro.

“The center was contacted in May 2025 by a doctor from a private hospital in Asaba to do a confirmatory test on a possible case of breast cancer for a patient, Mbara Deborah. The test was done, and the result was issued to the referring doctor as a case of breast cancer on May 9, 2025.

“A copy of that result is the one currently being circulated online by the law firm, Allen Juris Law, with the name Mbara Deborah as the patient. That result from the law firm is the original version issued to the patient through her hospital.”

The association said the clarification became necessary due to the purposes for which the altered report was allegedly being used.

NMA urged Nigerian government authorities to take appropriate action against Blessing, CEO.

It further called on the public to be properly guided and warned against actions capable of undermining the integrity of medical practitioners.

The NMA also called on relevant authorities responsible for maintaining law and order to take appropriate steps to protect unsuspecting members of the public from exploitation.

DAILY POST recalls that Blessing CEO had recently solicited financial assistance from the public for the treatment of what she described as stage four cancer.

However, following backlash and allegations that the medical report she shared had been edited, the relationship coach later retracted her claim.

Speaking during an interview amid the controversy, she said, “I don’t have stage 4 cancer. That was a miscommunication.”

She subsequently deactivated her account.

Boko Haram food supplier Sentenced to 40 Years in Jail

0

Justice Binta Fatima Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced a man, Hamatu Modu, to 40 years in prison for supplying food and intelligence to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

Modu was prosecuted by the Federal Government through the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice after he admitted in open court to aiding the terrorist group.

He was arraigned on a four-count charge on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to all counts. The prosecution was led by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN).

In her judgment, Justice Nyako sentenced Modu to 10 years on each count, amounting to 40 years. However, following a plea by defense counsel, the court ordered that the sentences run concurrently, meaning he will serve 10 years in prison.

In a related development, another convict, Isah Ali, was also sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for similar offenses. His jail term is to take effect from the date of his arrest three years ago.

Both convicts pleaded guilty to the charges against them.

The court further directed that they undergo rehabilitation and deradicalization programs after completing their sentences. It also ordered the Federal Ministry of Interior to determine the correctional facilities where they will serve their terms.

ADC Crisis: Why I Attended unveiling of David Mark’s leadership – Nafiu Bala

0

Nafiu Bala, a factional national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has explained his presence at the party’s July 2025 unveiling of an interim leadership, alleging that former Senate President David Mark was imposed during the event.

Bala confirmed that he attended the unveiling but said there was no prior agreement among party stakeholders to install the leadership that eventually emerged.

The ADC has since been embroiled in a deep internal crisis, with rival factions led by Bala and Mark laying claim to the party’s leadership.

Amid the dispute, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the de-recognition of both factions following a court of appeal ruling delivered on March 12.

Controversy over Bala’s role resurfaced on Monday after videos showing his presence at the unveiling circulated widely on social media.

However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Bala maintained that the outcome of the meeting was unexpected and contrary to agreed procedures.

“Contrary to expectations, the event took an unexpected turn when Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, the then National Chairman, was given the floor to deliver his welcoming address,” he said.

“In a shocking move, he announced his resignation as national chairman, proceeded to issue a membership card to Sen. David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, and declared them acting national chairman and national secretary, respectively.”

Bala argued that the action violated the party’s constitution, stressing that the ADC’s rules do not empower an outgoing chairman to unilaterally appoint successors.

He cited provisions of the ADC Constitution (2022, as amended), describing Nwosu’s decision as a clear breach of due process and a major trigger of the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.

Nigerian Govt expels American missionary Alex Barber

0

The federal government has expelled American missionary Alex Barber over statements authorities say could inflame tensions and deepen divisions, particularly in Plateau State.

The decision comes amid rising controversy over Barber’s activities in Nigeria’s north-central region, where officials allege his comments were capable of inciting unrest.

Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement (North Central), confirmed the development during an appearance on TVC.

“Yeah, so we’ve realized what Alex Barber has done, so I must inform you that Alex Barber is no longer in Nigeria,” she said.

“He has been, we can say, removed and sent out of the country because of the work he’s doing, which is creating division.”

Essiet linked Barber’s remarks to violence in Jos, alleging that two Muslims were killed shortly after one of his speeches.

“Immediately after he made his speech in Jos, a lot of people didn’t know that two people, two Muslims, were killed immediately after his speech,” she said.

“Because of the impact of this provocative speech, which he has been making, he was sent out of the country and is no longer in Nigeria.”

Barber, a former American football player turned missionary, had gained recognition for humanitarian efforts in conflict-affected communities in Benue and Plateau states.

Through his initiative, Building Zion, and in collaboration with a US-based NGO, he helped rebuild homes and support displaced residents. In Yelwata, Benue State, he reportedly oversaw the reconstruction of dozens of houses destroyed during attacks.

“So far, we have rebuilt 35 housing units… The joy among the people is overwhelming,” Barber said during a January 2026 project event.

Community leaders praised the intervention. Julius Joor, the traditional ruler of Yelwata, said, “For the first time, private individuals have come to our aid in such a massive way. You have restored hope and happiness to our people.”

Legal practitioner Franc Utoo added, “You have done what both the federal and state governments have failed to do.”

Despite his humanitarian work, Barber’s public statements drew increasing criticism. In interviews and online posts, he described violence in the Middle Belt as organized and systematic.

“This is not just some random criminality… This is a war being waged on people,” he said in an interview with News Central Television, while also questioning official narratives: “If there’s no war in Nigeria, what is happening?”

Critics argue that such characterizations oversimplify a complex crisis involving banditry, farmer-herder clashes, and insurgency and risk heightening tensions by framing the conflict along religious lines.

Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad and cleric Ahmad Gumi both raised concerns over his rhetoric, with calls for investigation into his activities.

In a petition to security agencies in Plateau State, Aliyu Naziru alleged Barber was present at a violence scene under unclear circumstances, though there is no confirmed evidence linking him to any criminal act.

Supporters, however, insist Barber was drawing attention to neglected crises. Religious figures, including COCIN priest Ezekiel Dachomo, defended his efforts and warned against attempts to silence him.

Responding to criticism, Barber said, “They haven’t talked about me rebuilding villages… but when I speak out… then all of a sudden [they react].”

He also denied any link between his comments and violence, stating in a Facebook post, “Let it be known that if Abiodun Essiet… made this statement, they are directly lying to the Nigerian and international community. I’ve never heard of this person, nor had a conversation with them.”

Analysts note that while freedom of expression is protected, Nigerian laws restrict speech deemed capable of inciting violence or public disorder, especially in sensitive regions. Authorities also retain the power to deport foreigners whose actions are considered against national interest.

Essiet said the government’s action was aimed at preventing further division, drawing parallels with past global conflicts.

“That’s what the government has done, because we don’t want individuals to come and create division,” she said.

“I’ve been to Rwanda a couple of times… As simple as this whole narrative of what Alex Barber was saying is what some foreign actors did in Rwanda… and that led to a massive genocide.

“Based on our experience, we don’t want Nigeria to follow that path… We must not allow people who do not understand the history of our crises to divide us.”

In an official statement issued on Monday, April 6, 2026, the lawmaker was said to have passed away on Monday evening at a hospital in Cairo, where he had been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.

2027: INEC officials allegedly bribed with $50.00 to remove ADC leadership — Aisha Yesufu

0

Political activist and human rights campaigner, Aisha Yesufu, has alleged that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were bribed to facilitate the removal of the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Yesufu made the allegation on Monday during a live interview on Prime Time, a program on Arise Television, where she also claimed that the INEC Chairman was allegedly threatened into taking the decision.

Her remarks come amid the recent action by INEC, which saw former Senate President David Mark removed as national chairman of the ADC.

Airing her concerns, Yesufu said, “There are reports that INEC officials were allegedly bribed with monies up to $50,000, and lands were given. Where is the EFCC and ICPC in all of this?”

She further criticized the role of the judiciary, stating, “The judiciary has turned itself into the pawn of corrupt politicians. And that’s not what it should be. You’re having places where houses are being built for them, where all sorts of meetings are going on.”

The BringBackOurGirls co-convener stressed the need for institutional independence and accountability, warning against political interference.

“My thinking is that one institution should be independent… If there is independence, if there’s accountability, and transparency, we don’t have all of these shenanigans going on,” she said.

Yesufu also expressed concern over what she described as the use of state institutions to suppress opposition voices.

“When you see the institutions, and also the judiciary, have turned themselves into weapons of oppression, willing tools of oppression against opposition parties, then that’s something that worries us and the democracy of our country,” she added.

She concluded by urging the protection of Nigeria’s democratic system, noting, “This democracy… many people died for it… and we cannot have a few people come and destroy it just because they want to hang on to power.

Racism: Vinicius sends strong message to Barcelona’s Yamal

0

Vinícius Júnior has expressed support for Lamine Yamal following the young winger’s reaction to racist chants during an international friendly.

Yamal had voiced frustration after being targeted by fans during Spain vs. Egypt international friendly, which ended in a goalless draw.

Speaking on Monday ahead of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final, the Real Madrid star described racism as a persistent problem in football and society.

Vinicius Jr encouraged the FC Barcelona youngster to remain vocal and resilient in the face of abuse.

“It’s a complicated issue, and it happens a lot. I hope Lamine can continue this fight,” he said.

The Brazilian forward noted that while high-profile players may have influence and resources, many others facing racism lack such support. He stressed that discrimination exists globally, urging collective action to address it.

“We have money, but poor Black people have more difficulties than we do. I’m not saying countries like Spain, Germany, or Portugal are racist, but there are racists everywhere. If we fight together, hopefully people will stop suffering these things,” he added.

Vinicius Jr. has himself been repeatedly subjected to racist abuse in Spain and has been a prominent voice in the campaign against discrimination in football.

Simon was rushed to General Hospital, Kontagora, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Jafar Musa is now in police custody as investigations continue.

Arise TV’s Oseni Rufai breaks down on live broadcast on how Nigerian Army General Uba was killed

0

Oseni Rufai, a presenter with Arise TV, became emotional during a live broadcast as he reflected on the death of Musa Uba, the Nigerian Army commander killed in a terrorist ambush in Borno State in November 2025.

Speaking during the program, Rufai recounted the circumstances surrounding the senior officer’s final moments, noting that the memory continues to affect him deeply.

According to him, General Uba had reportedly sent a distress message after his unit came under heavy attack while on an operation. With his phone battery running low, the commander appealed urgently for rescue.

“Dr. Abati, I feel like crying. General Uba was in the bush. He had a low battery and made a message saying, “Please come and save me,” Rufai said.

He expressed regret that assistance did not arrive on time.

“The next thing we heard was that the bandits caught him and killed him. Remember how General Uba’s wife cried that we let General Uba down,” he added.

Uba, who commanded the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, Borno State, was known for leading troops from the front lines in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East.

He was killed when fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province ambushed his convoy near Wajiroko in the Damboa Local Government Area as he returned from a routine military operation.

Although early reports from insurgent sources claimed he was captured and executed, the Nigerian Army honored him for his courage and dedication to duty in the battle against insurgency.
