Oseni Rufai, a presenter with Arise TV, became emotional during a live broadcast as he reflected on the death of Musa Uba, the Nigerian Army commander killed in a terrorist ambush in Borno State in November 2025.
Speaking during the program, Rufai recounted the circumstances surrounding the senior officer’s final moments, noting that the memory continues to affect him deeply.
According to him, General Uba had reportedly sent a distress message after his unit came under heavy attack while on an operation. With his phone battery running low, the commander appealed urgently for rescue.
“Dr. Abati, I feel like crying. General Uba was in the bush. He had a low battery and made a message saying, “Please come and save me,” Rufai said.
He expressed regret that assistance did not arrive on time.
“The next thing we heard was that the bandits caught him and killed him. Remember how General Uba’s wife cried that we let General Uba down,” he added.
Uba, who commanded the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, Borno State, was known for leading troops from the front lines in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East.
He was killed when fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province ambushed his convoy near Wajiroko in the Damboa Local Government Area as he returned from a routine military operation.
Although early reports from insurgent sources claimed he was captured and executed, the Nigerian Army honored him for his courage and dedication to duty in the battle against insurgency.
