Easter: Pure negligence—BRGIE condemns mass killings in Nigeria, provides support for victims

The Biafran Republic Government in Exile has condemned mass killing in Nigeria on Palm Sunday in Plateau, Benue, and other parts of Nigeria.

BRGIE disclosed this in a statement by its prime minister, Ogechukwu Nkere, on Monday.

Nkere described the killing as far too many, which has led to the loss of the lives of innocent Biafrans to terrorists.

He stated that the Nigerian government has not only failed to address the menace but also has failed to take action.

Nkere accused the Nigerian government of negligence and inaction towards widespread insecurity in the country.

The Prime Minister reiterated that BRGIE has kicked off policy actions to support Christians persecuted in the Middle Belt and Northern Nigeria.

“Hon. Ogechukwu Nkere, Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), extends his deepest condolences to the victims of the suicide bombings in Maiduquri, Nigeria, last month, as well as to those affected by the recent killings of Christians in Jos during Palm Sunday. Far too many innocent lives—both in Biafra and across Nigeria—have been lost to acts of extremist violence. The Nigerian government has not only failed to effectively address this crisis but, through negligence and inaction, has allowed insecurity to persist and worsen.

“This ongoing failure has created conditions in which violence continues to spread, with devastating consequences for civilians. During the attacks in Maiduguri, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was reportedly attending engagements in the United Kingdom, even as security conditions at home deteriorated. Meanwhile, the killings in Jos drew international attention and condemnation.

“This apparent disconnect between

Leadership and the realities on the ground raise serious concerns about the

government’s ability to fulfill its fundamental responsibility: protecting its citizens.

“As a result, many Nigerians remain exposed, vulnerable, and without adequate security. This situation reflects a troubling gap in governance and accountability.

“In response, BRGIE has formalized its support for Christians in Nigeria’s Middle Belt and Northern regions.

“On February 27, 2026, BRGIE adopted Legislation Bill No. 02262026, titled ‘Official BRGIE Policy of Support for Persecuted Christians in Northern and Middle Belt Nigeria.'”

“This policy establishes a framework for active solidarity and assistance. Once again, we extend our deepest sympathies to all victims and their families,” he stated.

Recall that at least 20 persons were killed in coordinated attacks in Nyamgo, Gyel, Jos South Local Government, Plateau State, and Gwer East Local Government of Benue, respectively.

The killings come the day after President Tinubu visited Plateau over the massacre in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North LGA, which led to the death of between 27 and 51 persons.
