It’s fake news—Akpabio opens up on collapsing, being hospitalized in London

0

Nigeria’s 10th Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has dismissed reports claiming he collapsed and was flown to London for medical treatment, describing the allegations as false.

Reacting to the report, Kenny Okolugbo, Consultant on Communications and Strategy to the Senate President, refuted the claim, insisting there was no truth to suggestions about Akpabio’s health.

When contacted by Nigerian Newssphere on Monday, Okolugbo was unequivocal, stating, “It’s a lie, fake news,” and declined to provide further details.

The denial follows an earlier report by an online news platform that alleged that the Senate President collapsed and was airlifted via a private jet to a London hospital for treatment.

Samkleff blames Davido for rising toxicity in Nigerian Music Industry

0

Music producer Samkleff has accused award-winning singer Davido of fueling rivalry and toxicity within Nigeria’s music industry.

Samkleff made the allegation while responding to a social media post by producer-turned-singer Pheelz, who lamented the growing culture of comparisons and unhealthy competition in the industry.

“Music was meant to be enjoyed, not to be compared. This comparison game is hurting the sound and culture more than we can ever know,” Pheelz wrote.

Reacting to the post, Samkleff claimed that the industry thrived on mutual respect and harmony when Wizkid and Olamide were the dominant young stars. According to him, the atmosphere changed after Davido rose to prominence.

He alleged that Davido’s emergence ushered in what he described as toxicity, a “cultist mindset,” threats, and streaming fraud, insisting that the music industry was never meant to be a battleground for rivalry.

In a series of posts, Samkleff wrote:

“Music was fun when we started. When Wizkid came, there was no comparison—everything was pure love.

Olamide came too, same thing. No pressure, no hatred, just music.

Then one Scorpio boy who moves like Diddy… Davido entered, and since then the industry turned toxic.

Cultist mindset, threats, fake streams, dirty moves everywhere.”

Samkleff’s comments triggered mixed reactions online, with many critics faulting him for singling out Davido as the cause of the industry’s challenges.

As of the time of filing this report, Davido has not responded to the allegations.

Aso Rock Gossip: Buhari believed I planned killing him, was locking his room– Wife, Aisha

0

Aisha Buhari, wife of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has disclosed that her husband briefly believed rumors within the Presidential Villa suggesting she wanted to kill him.

According to her account, the gossip led Buhari to suspect that she intended to poison him, prompting changes in his behavior, including locking his room and altering his daily routines.

The revelation is contained in a newly released 600-page biography titled From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, written by Dr. Charles Omole and unveiled at the State House on Monday.

In the book, Mrs. Buhari explained that her husband’s severe health crisis in 2017, which resulted in a 154-day medical stay in the United Kingdom, was not caused by poisoning or any mysterious illness, as widely speculated at the time. Instead, she attributed it to poor nutrition and disrupted meal routines.

She noted that she had personally overseen Buhari’s diet and supplements for years, carefully managing his nutrition to support his health.

“Then came the gossip and the fearmongering. They said I wanted to kill him,” the book quoted her as saying.

“My husband believed them for a week or so.”

She revealed that during that period, Buhari began locking his room and making small changes to his habits. More critically, his meals were delayed or missed, and his supplements were discontinued.

“For a year, he did not have lunch. They mismanaged his meals,” she said.

Mrs. Buhari added that once proper nutrition and supplementation were restored during his treatment in London, Buhari’s health improved rapidly, noting that he abandoned his walking stick just three days later.

The biography also sheds light on mistrust within the Presidential Villa, including claims of surveillance and conspiracy theories such as the widely circulated but debunked “Jibril of Sudan” body-double rumor.

The 22-chapter book chronicles Buhari’s life from his childhood in Daura, Katsina State, through his military and political career, to his death in a London hospital in July 2025 at the age of 82.

Elon Musk becomes World’s Richest ever, hits $600bn net worth

Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk has made history by becoming the first person in the world to amass a net worth of $600 billion, according to estimates by Forbes.

The sharp rise in Musk’s wealth followed reports that his aerospace company, SpaceX, is weighing plans for an initial public offering valued at about $800 billion.

Sources familiar with the matter said the development boosted Musk’s personal fortune by an estimated $168 billion in a single day.

Musk owns roughly 42 per cent of SpaceX, which is widely expected to list on the stock market next year. If the proposed valuation is achieved, Forbes estimates his net worth could rise further to around $677 billion.

The billionaire had only crossed the $500 billion mark in October, highlighting the rapid pace of his wealth growth.

Musk’s fortune is also supported by his nearly 12 per cent stake in electric vehicle giant Tesla Inc. Despite slower sales growth, Tesla’s shares have gained about 13 per cent so far this year.

On Monday, Tesla stock climbed almost 4 per cent after Musk announced that the company was testing robotaxis without safety supervisors in the front passenger seat.

In November, Tesla shareholders approved a record-breaking $1 trillion compensation package for Musk, the largest executive pay deal in history. Investors backed the move as Musk continues to reposition Tesla as a major player in artificial intelligence and robotics.

Meanwhile, Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is reportedly in advanced talks to raise $15 billion in new funding at a valuation of approximately $230 billion, further strengthening his expanding business empire.

Chelsea list Managers to replace Enzo Maresca

0

Several managers have reportedly emerged as possible candidates to replace Enzo Maresca at Chelsea if the club’s owners decide to part ways with the Italian.

Hopes that Maresca would lead the Blues to their first Premier League title in a decade have dimmed following recent developments, particularly his comments after the weekend’s league action.

Chelsea defeated Everton 2-0 on Saturday, but the victory was overshadowed by a strong post-match outburst from Maresca during his press conference. The former Leicester City boss said the 48 hours leading up to the game were the worst he had experienced since joining the club, claiming that many people failed to support him and the team.

Although Maresca insisted his remarks were not aimed at supporters, he did not specify who he believed was being unsupportive. Several British media outlets interpreted the comments as criticism of Chelsea’s board and ownership.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Cardiff City, Maresca maintained that he remains “absolutely committed” to his role at Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea’s history suggests that managers rarely enjoy long tenures, especially amid tension with the club’s hierarchy.

According to Metro, a number of names are already being considered should Chelsea move on from Maresca. Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior is reportedly the leading candidate. The Ligue 1 side is owned by Todd Boehly’s BlueCo consortium and currently has several Chelsea players on loan.

Rosenior, 41, has prior Premier League experience from his time at Hull City. Also mentioned is Oliver Glasner, who guided Crystal Palace to an FA Cup triumph over Manchester City and a fifth-place Premier League finish last season.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, who has previously managed the club twice and is now rebuilding his reputation at Coventry City, is also on the list. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is another name linked with the role.

EPL: Rio Ferdinand names three Premier League title contenders

0

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has named three clubs he believes are firmly in the Premier League title race.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said Aston Villa should be regarded as genuine contenders alongside Arsenal and Manchester City. However, he noted that City hold a clear edge due to their experience in winning the league.

Responding to a question on whether Villa are serious title challengers, Ferdinand said they deserve to be included in the conversation.

“They have to be. Don’t you think they are?” he said. “My only concern when comparing them with Arsenal and Manchester City is experience. City are the only team that know how to win it, and that gives them an advantage.”

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table with 36 points, two points ahead of Manchester City, while Aston Villa are close behind on 33 points.
