Troops, terrorists exchange gunfire near Dangote Cement plant in Obajana Kogi[Video]

Nigerian troops on Saturday night engaged suspected terrorists in a gun battle at Obajana town, Kogi State, the location of Africa’s largest cement factory owned by Dangote Cement.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident on Sunday via a post on X, stating that the exchange of gunfire occurred as troops carried out ongoing clearance operations in the area.

According to Makama, the security forces confronted the assailants who were reportedly attempting to infiltrate the community.

“There was an exchange of gunfire between Nigerian troops and suspected terrorists in Obajana town, Kogi State, on Saturday night, as security forces sustained ongoing clearance operations,” he wrote.

As of the time of filing this report, the Defence Headquarters had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

The development comes amid intensified security operations in Kogi State. DAILY POST had earlier reported that several terrorists were killed during a joint police and military operation that dislodged criminal elements from forests in the state.
