The Rivaers State Police Command has invited a former secretary to the state government, Tammy Danagogo, for questioning over an alleged plot to assassinate the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The invitation follows a leaked phone conversation reportedly involving Danagogo and an arrested suspect linked to the alleged plot. An anonymous source told Nigerian Newsphere that the discussion centered on plans to bring in Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination.
“Danagogo and Pastor Tombari were allegedly discussing a plan to invite Israelis to kill the minister,” the source said. “The leaked conversation is already with the police, and Danagogo has been invited for questioning.”
Efforts to confirm the development with the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringo Koko, were ongoing as of the time of filing this report. When contacted, she said she would verify the information and respond later.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a Port Harcourt–based pastor, in connection with the alleged plot. His arrest reportedly followed the interception of a phone call between him and Danagogo.
According to security sources, the monitored conversation allegedly involved discussions about recruiting foreign nationals to execute the plan, with the call ending on a note about seeking financial backing from Rivers State.
