Former media aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has said that the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries will determine whether Peter Obi can defeat former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Ahmad noted that while Obi enjoys strong support among young voters, Atiku retains the advantage of long-established political structures and party machinery.
In a post on X, Ahmad wrote: “The likelihood of Peter Obi prevailing over Atiku Abubakar in the ADC primaries largely hinges on the mode of the primaries. Obi commands significant support among young voters, while Atiku enjoys the backing of established structures and the party machinery.”
Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, recently defected to the ADC.
Reports indicate that Obi is expected to contest the ADC presidential ticket alongside Atiku Abubakar.
