Despite the bright start, City were unable to extend their advantage and were forced to dig deep to secure all three points.

The result sees them move level on 70 points with Arsenal but ahead on goals scored, as both sides share the same

BREAKING: ADC leadership battle: Mark, Bala await verdict as Supreme Court reserves judgment

0

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday reserved judgment in an appeal filed by David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), challenging the jurisdiction of courts to interfere in the party’s internal affairs.

A five-member panel led by Garba Mohammed fixed the judgment for a later date after hearing arguments from counsel representing all parties.

Arguing for Mark, Jibrin Okutepa, SAN, maintained that the apex court had already settled the issue in a March 21, 2025, judgment, which held that courts lack jurisdiction over internal disputes of political parties. He urged the court to uphold the appeal and rule that the Federal High Court in Abuja lacked the authority to hear the case involving the ADC leadership tussle.

However, counsel to the first respondent, Nafiu Bala, Robert Emukpero, SAN, asked the court to dismiss the appeal and affirm the earlier ruling that described Mark’s case as premature.

The dispute stems from an earlier decision of the Court of Appeal, which dismissed Mark’s appeal against the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court. The appellate court held that the appeal was filed without the required leave and ordered that the substantive case be returned to the trial court for accelerated hearing, directing all parties to maintain the status quo.

Following that order, the electoral body withdrew recognition of the ADC leadership under Mark pending the outcome of the case.

Dissatisfied with the ruling, Mark approached the Supreme Court to challenge both the appellate court’s decision and the directive to maintain the status quo.

After taking arguments from all sides, Justice Mohammed announced that judgment has been reserved and will be delivered on a date to be communicated to the parties.

BREAKING: Supreme Court gives update on judgment over PDP convention, leadership crisis

0

The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the Court of Appeal’s decision that nullified its national convention held last year in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Garba Mohammed, announced on Wednesday that the date for judgment delivery would be communicated to all parties after hearing final arguments from lawyers representing the disputing sides.

The PDP faction led by Tanimu Turaki approached the Supreme Court seeking to overturn the appellate court ruling, which invalidated the convention on the grounds that it was conducted in violation of a subsisting court order.

It will be recalled that Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier restrained the party’s National Executive Committee, led by Ambassador Iliya Damagum, from proceeding with the convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2026, in Ibadan.

The court had ordered that the convention should not be held until former Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido—an aspirant for the national chairmanship position—was given the opportunity to obtain nomination forms and participate in the election process.

Despite the order, the PDP proceeded with the convention, arguing that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction over what it described as an internal party affair.

However, the Court of Appeal disagreed, holding that the matter was justiciable and not purely internal, and subsequently nullified the outcome of the convention for disobedience of the Federal High Court’s order.

Dissatisfied with the ruling, the PDP asked the Supreme Court to set aside the appellate judgment, insisting that both lower courts lacked jurisdiction to intervene in the party’s internal affairs.

The respondents, however, urged the apex court to dismiss the appeal for lacking merit and uphold the decision of the Court of Appeal.

Judgment has been reserved to a later date.

He was on spy mission for Elon Musk—Seun Kuti on iShowSpeed’s Africa Tour

0

Popular Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has claimed that the recent African tour by American streamer IShowSpeed was allegedly sponsored by Elon Musk as part of a covert mission.

Seun made the allegation in a viral video circulating online, stating that he only became aware of the information a few days ago.

Recounting his experience, the singer said he was initially contacted by the tour’s promoter and producer, who expressed interest in meeting him. However, he claimed the meeting never happened after the team arrived in Nigeria.

“You can’t know the deals they’re making behind the scenes. You can’t know the people they’re talking to behind the scenes. You just think they’re coming to talk to you, but they all have an agenda,” he said.

He continued, “After IShowSpeed’s promoter and producer of his African tour called, they said that we wanted to see you, and I agreed. But they didn’t call me again or come to the shrine again when they reached Nigeria, and the promoter is my friend, but I don’t want to mention the name. I called and sent messages, but none of them responded.”

According to him, communication only resumed after the tour ended, but he chose not to pursue the matter further.

“Only to find out the day before yesterday that Elon Musk was the one that sponsored the whole thing to know where his satellite has reached in Africa. That’s why they were visiting bushy areas. So, all that was a spy job for Elon Musk,” he claimed.

Recall that IShowSpeed, who toured about 20 African countries in January 2026, had stated that the trip was aimed at promoting African culture.

Real reason Tinubu sacked Edun as Nigerian Finance Minister—Melaye

0

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly disclose the reasons behind the removal of former minister of finance, Wale Edun.

Nigerian Newssphere reports that President Tinubu on Tuesday relieved Edun of his duties and appointed Taiwo Oyedele as his replacement. However, the presidency has yet to provide an official explanation for the sudden cabinet reshuffle.

Reacting via his official Facebook page, Melaye questioned the rationale behind the decision, suggesting possible underlying issues. He also raised concerns over allegations of missing public funds.

He wrote, “Mr. President, when ministers are sacked in civilized climes, the government must explain why they are sacked.

“Was the minister of finance removed because he could not cover up the stolen 24 billion dollars (34 trillion naira) diverted from our revenue? World Bank no dey lie, SDM.”

‘That one still pains me’- Ruger speaks on biggest missed opportunity

Afrobeats star Ruger has opened up about a major missed career opportunity, revealing how he unknowingly passed up a chance to feature in a blockbuster by Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele.

Speaking during an interview with VJ Adams, the singer explained that he had always noticed Akindele’s support for his music and planned to reach out to appreciate her. However, he later discovered that she had already contacted him with a movie role offer—one he didn’t see until it was too late.

Ruger admitted the realization hit hard, describing the missed message as one of his biggest regrets so far.

“I am interested in acting and wouldn’t mind going into the movie industry. I once missed a DM from Funke Akindele for a movie role. I didn’t even see it on time. That one still pains me,” he said.

Despite the setback, the singer maintained that he remains open to exploring acting, although he acknowledged potential challenges.

“However, I think acting would be difficult for me because I don’t like shooting. But I would get into character still. If my character is interesting, yeah,” he added.
