‘That one still pains me’- Ruger speaks on biggest missed opportunity

0

Afrobeats star Ruger has opened up about a major missed career opportunity, revealing how he unknowingly passed up a chance to feature in a blockbuster by Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele.

Speaking during an interview with VJ Adams, the singer explained that he had always noticed Akindele’s support for his music and planned to reach out to appreciate her. However, he later discovered that she had already contacted him with a movie role offer—one he didn’t see until it was too late.

Ruger admitted the realization hit hard, describing the missed message as one of his biggest regrets so far.

“I am interested in acting and wouldn’t mind going into the movie industry. I once missed a DM from Funke Akindele for a movie role. I didn’t even see it on time. That one still pains me,” he said.

Despite the setback, the singer maintained that he remains open to exploring acting, although he acknowledged potential challenges.

“However, I think acting would be difficult for me because I don’t like shooting. But I would get into character still. If my character is interesting, yeah,” he added.

‘That’s why you can’t keep a marriage’—Nigerians knock Yul Edochie over attack on Peter Obi

0

Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has come under fire from fans following comments he made about former Anambra State governor Peter Obi.

Edochie, in a post shared Tuesday morning on his official X handle, claimed that Obi’s presidential ambition would not succeed, describing it as “dead on arrival.” He further alleged that any political party Obi aligns with would struggle, referencing his reported association with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to the actor, Obi’s political efforts are a “total waste of time,” adding that the former governor is either unaware of the challenges ahead or has chosen to ignore them. He concluded by asserting that Obi “cannot be President of Nigeria now.”

The remarks quickly sparked outrage among social media users, many of whom flooded the comment section to criticize the actor’s stance. Several commenters questioned his credibility and took aim at his personal life and career, urging him to focus on his profession rather than political commentary.

The backlash highlights the sensitivity surrounding political discourse in Nigeria, particularly when it involves high-profile figures like Obi, whose supporters remain vocal online.

Tinubu’s newly appointed DG Fatima Zuntu’s social media post attacking Trump surfaces

A social media comment by Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu, recently appointed Director General of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), critical of President Donald Trump has surfaced.

Zuntu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, was appointed on Monday by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a four-year term effective April 16, 2026. Her appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by Chris Ugwuegbulam, spokesperson for the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

However, checks on her X account revealed that the newly appointed NBMA boss had, on March 30, 2026, reacted sharply to a post by Trump on Iran. Responding to the former US president’s comment via his Truth Social platform, Zuntu wrote, “Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.”

The remark, now resurfacing in the wake of her appointment.

Zuntu’s appointment itself has continued to draw both praise and criticism.

The NBMA is responsible for regulating modern biotechnology and ensuring the safe handling of genetically modified organisms in Nigeria, placing its leadership at the center of scientific and policy-driven discourse.

Nigerian Newssphere reports that Fatima Zuntu replaced Dr. Agnes Asagbra as the DG of NBMA.
