Transfer: He’ll cause teams problems – Micah Richards on Arsenal’s latest recruit

0

Former Manchester City player, Micah Richards, has given his verdict on Arsenal’s new signings Viktor Gyokeres.

Richards also advised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to replace Gabriel Martinelli with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze in his Arsenal squad.

Recall thato Arsenal recently signed Gyokeres from Sporting CP for £64m.

Speaking about the Gunners’ summer transfer business on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards said: “How many times have we said Arsenal need a new striker? We said it every week last season.

“They’ve needed one for a while now and I still believe they need a left winger as well. They’ve been linked with [Eberechi] Eze haven’t they.

“I think [Gabriel] Martinelli can definitely do a job but he’s more of an impact player, great to have off the bench, so if they could get Eze that would be amazing.

“In terms of Gyokeres, I think it’s a very good signing but I still think there are question marks if he can do it at this level consistently.

“I have watched loads of videos of him and I think he’s really good with his movement, he’s a really clever striker.

“He will cause teams problems though and he’s exactly what Arsenal needed, for sure.”

Darkness hits Enugu over electricity tariff reduction controversy

0

Mainpower Electricity Distribution Limited has blamed the electricity tariff controversy for the outage being experienced in parts of Enugu State.

The disco made this known in a notice on Monday.

According to the disco, the outage in the past four days is due to a significant drop in energy allocation from its parent company, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, following the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) Multi-Year-Tariff order for Band A customers of N160.40 per kilowatt-hour from N209 per kilowatt-hour.

Mainpower explained that after analysing the implications of the EERC’s MYTO, it will result in a monthly loss of over N1 billion to EEDC.

“This development is a result of the recent issuance of a new tariff order to Mainpower by the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC). The order reduced the tariff for Band A customers from N209.50/kWh to N160.40/kWh.

“Upon receipt of the tariff order, MEDL, by obligation, promptly updated EEDC (our energy supplier).

“After analysing the implications of the new tariff, EEDC concluded that implementing it would result in a monthly loss of over N1 billion, which makes it impossible for EEDC to meet her obligations to the market.

“Consequently, and to mitigate these losses, EEDC made the difficult decision to reduce the volume of energy supplied to MEDL.

“This has unfortunately resulted in MEDL receiving only about 50 percent of its usual energy allocation, significantly affecting our ability to serve some of our esteemed customers.

“It is important to clarify that MEDL does not receive electricity directly from National Grid. Instead, we rely solely on EEDC, which holds the vesting contract agreement with the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), the organisation responsible for electricity bulk trading”.

Newssphere reports that EERC, Discos, the Electricity Generation Company, and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission have reached a tariff reduction impasse.

GenCos and DisCos had rejected EERC’s tariff reduction announcements, but the regulator had insisted on their implementation.

NERC and the federal government also kicked against EERC’s tariff reduction in Enugu state citing existing heavy debt burden.
