1. A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, has described the administration of President Bola Tinubu as a total disaster that has underperformed even compared to the much criticised government of President Muhammadu Buhari. In an interview, Waziri warned that the country is sliding dangerously into deeper crises under Tinubu’s leadership.

3. Troops of the North East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have killed 17 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during clearance operations across Borno and Adamawa states. Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, said in a statement that the terrorists had been operating in Bama, Konduga, Gwoza, Magumeri, and Biu local government areas of Borno State, as well as Michika in Adamawa State.

4. Residents, commuters, and traders were left frustrated on Monday as flash floods swept through several communities and streets in Lagos State following intense rainfall that began Sunday night and persisted intermittently throughout Monday. The downpour, which started around midnight, led to severe flooding on both the Island and Mainland, crippling trade and economic activities across Nigeria’s commercial hub.

5. Importation (foreign investment) into the country rose 67.12   per cent, year-on-year, YoY   to $5.642 billion in the first quarter of the year, Q1’25 from $3.376 billion in the corresponding period in 2024, Q1’24. Similarly,   Capital importation increased quarter-on-quarter by 10.86% from $5.09.16 billion in the preceding quarter, Q4 2024.
