Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has raised alarm over the heavy deployment of security operatives around the family home.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday morning, Prince Kanu warned that the residence had been surrounded by a “large number of security agents” just hours before the long-awaited judgment on Kanu’s terrorism-related cases.

“Breaking news! Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s family house is currently surrounded by a large number of security agents. We are alerting the whole world,” he wrote.

Nigerian Newssphere reports that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, is expected to rule today on several applications filed by the Federal Government against the IPOB leader.

Kanu, who has been in detention since 2021, is standing trial on seven terrorism-related charges, including alleged incitement, operating an unlawful organization, and actions said to threaten national security.

The development has heightened tension and https://nigeriannewssphere.com/judgement-day-fear-grips-south-east-nigeria-as-court-delivers-crucial-ruling-on-nnamdi-kanu-today/anxiety across parts of the South-East as residents await the court’s decision.

Judgement day: Fear grips South-East, Nigeria as Court delivers crucial ruling on Nnamdi Kanu Today

There is growing tension across the South-East and the entire country as the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is set to know his fate today, Thursday, after spending years in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to Nigerian Newssphere, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice James Omotosho, will deliver judgment on multiple applications filed by both Kanu and the Federal Government. Among them is Kanu’s latest move challenging the validity of the charges against him and demanding his release on grounds of unlawful detention and violations of his fundamental rights.

Kanu, who has repeatedly petitioned to halt today’s judgment, has been in DSS detention since June 2021 following his controversial re-arrest in Kenya. He currently faces seven terrorism-related charges, including allegations of incitement, operating an unlawful group and actions deemed threatening to national security—claims he has consistently denied.

Justice Omotosho had earlier fixed today’s date for judgment after Kanu failed to open his defence within the six days allocated to him. Although the prosecution has already closed its case, Kanu filed a fresh motion arguing that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act under which he was charged has been repealed.

He asked the court to void his plea of “not guilty”, insisting it was obtained under deceptive circumstances and contrary to a Supreme Court decision. He also urged the court to strike out all proceedings in the matter, insisting the charges no longer exist in law.

Kanu is seeking an order dismissing the case entirely and directing his immediate release, arguing that the court lacks the jurisdiction to continue with a trial anchored on a repealed statute.

The heightened tension surrounding the case comes at a time when insecurity is intensifying across Nigeria. In recent days, gunmen kidnapped schoolgirls in Kebbi State, while several worshippers were killed when bandits attacked a Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State.

As the nation awaits the court’s decision, security concerns and political anxieties continue to rise.

I conduct mass burial 70 times, sometimes over 500 graves – Rev Dachomo tells Piers Morgan

Popular Plateau State-based clergy, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has claimed that he has conducted mass burials over 70 times following the alleged massacre of Nigerian Christians by Islamic extremists.
In an interview with a British journalist, the clergyman accused the Nigerian government of paying no attention to the killings of Christians in the country.
He said, “I have performed several genocide burials, more than 70 times. Some of the graves are five hundred and one people killed in just one night.
“The Nigerian government downplayed that one because the Islamic are controlling the government.”
Dachomo alleged that the Boko Haram terrorist group was established by some government officials to remove former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, the move was intended to drive Christians from power and install a Muslim counterpart.
“The background of the initial fact-finding is that many high-ranking government officials created Boko Haram to remove Goodluck Jonathan, who is a Christian.
“They caused riots in every village, and the people ran away; they were relocated. Their target is to kill the Christians because Goodluck is a Christian. That’s why Goodluck said ‘my blood is not worth it’,” he added.

Social media sensation Martins Otse, aka Verydarkman, and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, aka Mr Jollof, may be banned by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over a fight in an aircraft.

This comes after a video of the two men exchanging blows during a flight went viral on Monday morning.

VDM and Jollof have been involved in a heated exchange on social media in the past after the critic dragged the comedian’s wife into their drama, alleging that she sleeps with Yahoo boys.

But following the physical altercation on the flight, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, has now taken to X to demand details of the incident.

Achimugu quoted one of the clips and wrote, “If you are kind enough to provide the name of the airline in whose aircraft this incident occurred and the date, it would help investigations.”

VDM and Jollof could be hit with sanctions like fines and flight bans if found guilty.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed widespread social media reports alleging that a naval officer, who recently had a heated confrontation with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, survived an assassination attempt.

The rumour, which circulated on Sunday night, claimed the officer was trailed by unknown individuals in two unmarked black Hilux vans without number plates. The alleged tail reportedly began at the NIPCO Filling Station along the Line Expressway and continued up to Gado Nasco Way.

However, in a statement on Monday, FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh said no such incident occurred, stressing that the report was entirely false.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory,” Adeh said.

She urged residents to ignore the “fake and misleading” information, warning against the spread of unverified claims that could trigger panic.

“For the safety of all residents, the Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Division,” the statement added.
