Residents of Dansadau town in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday attacked a member of the State House of Assembly, Kabiru Mikailu, accusing him of poor performance and neglect of his constituency.
A viral video circulating online shows the lawmaker struggling to escape as an angry crowd descended on him during the incident.
According to reports, Mikailu was assaulted when he accompanied Governor Dauda Lawal on a visit to the troubled community, where the governor had gone to flag off key development projects.
The residents accused the lawmaker of abandoning the area since his election, alleging that he neither visited the community nor engaged with constituents during important occasions.
In the video, aggrieved youths could be heard chanting “bamayi,” a Hausa expression commonly used to convey rejection or anger, as the situation escalated.
