Nollywood actress Kemity speaks on sleeping with colleagues

0

Popular Nollywood actress Kemisola Apesin, widely known as Kemity or Sidi, has dismissed allegations that she slept with male colleagues in exchange for film roles.

Kemity’s denial follows her involvement in the ongoing public dispute between actor Itele, her boss, and fellow actor Austin Emmanuel.

As previously reported by DAILY POST, Austin Emmanuel—who has been largely absent from the screen in recent years—accused Itele, his longtime associate, of betraying him during a period of professional decline.

Responding, Itele denied being Austin’s friend, stating that he was already a producer before meeting him. The comment further infuriated Austin, who countered that senior colleague Don Richard had introduced Itele to him when Austin was still at the height of his career.

Amid the exchange, Kemity cautioned Austin against dragging her boss into the controversy and threatened to expose what she described as his secrets. Her intervention sparked backlash from some of Austin’s supporters, who accused her of trading sex for roles and warned they would reveal additional information if she interfered again.

After days of silence, Kemity addressed the allegations on Instagram on Friday, firmly rejecting the claims. She wrote, “There’s something I need to clear respectfully. I’ve never used my body or slept with anyone to get featured in any film or exchanged sex for an opportunity. Nobody should let anyone deceive them because of social media noise.”

BREAKING: Dangote-linked MRS raises petrol price

0

Dangote Refinery-backed MRS filling stations have increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Abuja, DAILY POST can confirm.

Checks by the Nigerian Newssphere show that MRS outlets in the Federal Capital Territory adjusted their retail price to N875 per liter, up from N839, representing a N36 increase.

A manager at one of the stations, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development on Friday.

MRS Filling Station is owned by Sayyu Idris Dantata, a half-brother to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

The latest hike suggests that the recent reduction in petrol gantry price by Dangote Refinery—which cut prices by N25 from N799 to N744 per liter—has not translated into lower retail prices at the pump.

The increase has also effectively erased the price gap between MRS and other marketers, including Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

As of Friday night, petrol prices across Abuja and surrounding areas now range between N875 and N889 per liter.

Nigerian Newssphere recalls that earlier this week, the 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote Refinery, which has recently ramped up operations to full capacity, announced a reduction in its petrol gantry price in a bid to compete with imported fuel.

WAFCON 2026: CAF President Motsepe confirms host amid uncertainty

0

President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has confirmed that Morocco will host the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, as earlier scheduled.

Morocco, which successfully staged the 2022 edition, was awarded the hosting rights for both the 2024 and 2026 tournaments two years ago. However, speculation emerged that the North African nation might withdraw from hosting the 2026 competition following controversies surrounding the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Amid the uncertainty, South Africa indicated its readiness to step in as an alternative host if required.

Addressing journalists on Friday, Motsepe dismissed the rumors, stressing that CAF would not alter the tournament schedule. He said, “Several nations are interested and have asked, ‘Please, can we host it?’ but they want to change the dates. We cannot change the dates because this tournament serves as a qualifier for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“The WAFCON will continue, it will be successful, and we will ensure it takes place within this specific window.”

Pastor Chris Okafor’s Daughter to Press alleged assault charges against Nigerian Cleric

0

Amara, the second daughter of the founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor, is reportedly preparing to press charges against her father over allegations of physical assault.

The development comes amid an ongoing public dispute between Okafor and Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. As previously reported by Daily Post, Ogala accused the cleric in December of failing to fulfill a marriage promise following what she described as an eight-year intimate relationship. She also made additional allegations involving his conduct with married church members.

Okafor had denied the claims and subsequently had the actress arrested. After her release, Ogala said she rejected an alleged $10,000 settlement offered by the pastor during a meeting at a police station.

In an update shared on her Instagram page on Friday, Ogala claimed that Amara is now ready to take legal action against Okafor, alleging that she was assaulted after confronting him over issues at home involving church members.

Ogala, who said she is close to Amara, shared videos and alleged that the incident involved severe physical abuse. She accused the cleric of mistreating his daughter and described the incident as a serious criminal matter, adding that Amara has decided to pursue justice.

Neither Pastor Chris Okafor nor his representatives have publicly responded to the latest allegations as of the time of filing this report.

This comes after the failed marriage and promise accusation leveled against Chris Okafor by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, for which he later apologized.

Someone tapped NSA Ribadu’s phone—El-Rufai on how he knew about his planned arrest

0

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has alleged that there was a plan to detain him, claiming he became aware of the move after communications were intercepted indicating that the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, had ordered his abduction.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS, El-Rufai said, “NSA Nuhu Ribadu gave the order for me to be abducted. Someone tapped Ribadu’s phone and informed us of his plan to abduct me.”

He alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services were procured by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to detain him.

El-Rufai clarified that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was not involved in the alleged operation. “I want to say very clearly, it wasn’t the EFCC; it was the DSS. But the DSS was procured to abduct me by the ICPC, which has never communicated with me directly,” he said.

According to him, the EFCC had earlier sent an invitation requesting his presence for questioning while he was outside the country on vacation. He explained that his lawyers responded by informing the commission of his absence and assured them he would indicate his return date.

“My lawyers replied that I’m not in the country; I’m on my annual vacation. Once I know the date of return, I will let you know,” El-Rufai said, adding that he is scheduled to meet the EFCC at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Further explaining the alleged involvement of the ICPC and DSS, El-Rufai stated, “Subsequently, we found out that it was the ICPC that procured the DSS to abduct me and then hand over to them.”

He went on to accuse Ribadu of using the ICPC as a personal instrument, saying, “This is a modus operandi of the ICPC that increasingly has become a personal tool of Ribadu. He made the call and made the order that I must be in custody yesterday.”

On the interception of the phone call, El-Rufai acknowledged its illegality but justified it by alleging that the government routinely listens to private communications without court orders. “The government does it all the time. They listen to our calls without a court order. But someone tapped his phone and told us that he gave the order,” he said.

El-Rufai also disclosed that the ICPC later delivered a formal invitation letter to his residence, which his legal team has acknowledged.

“We will honor the invitation, but on Monday we are going to the EFCC that had written before. After the EFCC, we’ll go to ICPC on Tuesday or Wednesday,” he added.

Tunji-Ojo: Court grants order to investigate Nigerian interior Minister’s academic records

0

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is facing fresh legal scrutiny after the Federal High Court granted an application seeking to investigate his academic qualifications.

Justice Binta Nyako approved the request on Friday while ruling on an ex parte motion filed by an activist, Mr. Emorioloye Owolemi. The application asked the court for permission to inquire into the Secondary School Certificate reportedly issued to the minister by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

Owolemi based his request on alleged discrepancies in the academic claims linked to the certificate.

In a related development, another judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, declined a similar application by the activist seeking to probe the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate allegedly issued to the minister.

Arguing the motion, Owolemi’s lead counsel, Philemon Yakubu, said the ex parte application was brought under Order 34 of the Federal High Court Civil Rules 2019, as well as Sections 1, 20, and 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2011. He urged the court to compel the National Youth Service Corps to release information requested in a letter dated November 17, 2025, concerning the minister’s discharge certificate.

The reliefs sought included records of monthly clearances, details of the place of service, bank account and financial information submitted during the minister’s 2006 NYSC registration, as well as monthly allowance payment logs. The application also requested documents relating to the alleged abscondment, including internal memos, disciplinary reports, and service-year records.

However, Justice Abdulmalik refused the application after hearing arguments, holding that the applicant failed to demonstrate that he was acting in the public interest, as required by law.

Speaking to journalists after the ruling, Yakubu said he would consult with his client to determine the next step, adding that the suit was driven by a desire to promote transparency, accountability, and probity among public office holders.

Thank you karma, El-Rufai who oppressed Nigerians, now begging for Rule of Law—Adeyanju

0

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, saying he is now “crying and begging for rule of law” after oppressing people while in office.

El-Rufai made the statement following a failed attempt by security agents to arrest him at Abuja International Airport upon his return from Cairo, Egypt. The former governor refused to be arrested and insisted that the security operatives formally send him a letter requesting an invitation.

In a statement, El-Rufai wrote, ”My lawyers have issued a statement that condemns the illegal attempt to arrest me today at the Abuja airport upon my arrival from Cairo.

“Our country must outgrow executive overreach and deliberate disregard for the rule of law.”

Reacting on X, Adeyanju posted, “El-Rufai, who oppressed everyone yesterday, is crying and begging for the rule of law. Karma, thank you for this.”

Nigerian Finance Minister must explain why only N36m was disbursed to health sector—Shehu Sani

0

Former Kaduna Central Senatorial District lawmaker Shehu Sani has expressed concern over the reported disbursement of only N36 million to the health sector in 2025.

In a statement shared on his verified X account on Friday, Sani emphasized that the finance minister must provide a full explanation regarding the matter.

Nigerian  recalls that the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Pate, attributed the poor 2025 capital budget execution to delays in the release of appropriated funds. He noted that the ministry could not fully utilize its N218 billion capital budget for the year, having received only N36 million.

Reacting to this, Sani said, “If it’s confirmed that only N36 million was released for the health sector in 2025, then it’s unfortunate and a demonstration of lack of seriousness in the health sector.

“The finance minister needs to fully respond to this.”
