Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, saying he is now “crying and begging for rule of law” after oppressing people while in office.
El-Rufai made the statement following a failed attempt by security agents to arrest him at Abuja International Airport upon his return from Cairo, Egypt. The former governor refused to be arrested and insisted that the security operatives formally send him a letter requesting an invitation.
In a statement, El-Rufai wrote, ”My lawyers have issued a statement that condemns the illegal attempt to arrest me today at the Abuja airport upon my arrival from Cairo.
“Our country must outgrow executive overreach and deliberate disregard for the rule of law.”
Reacting on X, Adeyanju posted, “El-Rufai, who oppressed everyone yesterday, is crying and begging for the rule of law. Karma, thank you for this.”
