Manchester City closed the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to two points after a convincing 3–0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side went into the match aware that Arsenal had earlier slipped to a 2–1 defeat against Aston Villa, and they quickly took advantage.
First-half goals from Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol put City firmly in control before Ryan Cherki dazzled with a fine assist for Phil Foden, who sealed the win.
The result takes City to 31 points, just behind Arsenal on 33.
In the other 4pm kick-offs, Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth, Everton cruised past Nottingham Forest 3–0, Tottenham secured a 2–0 win over Brentford, and Newcastle defeated 10-man Burnley 2–1.
