Florentino Perez has been re-elected president of Real Madrid after defeating Enrique Riquelme in the club’s presidential election held on Sunday.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Perez secured victory after receiving the support of about 70 per cent of voting club members, known as socios.
The result ensures that Perez will continue leading the Spanish giants, extending his long-standing tenure at the club.
His re-election is also expected to pave the way for a series of major announcements at Real Madrid. Reports indicate that former Real Madrid manager José Mourinho, who recently left Benfica, could be officially unveiled by the club in the coming days.
The club is also reportedly preparing announcements involving defenders Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries.
Meanwhile, Perez recently stated that Real Madrid could submit a €150 million bid for a marquee signing described as a “galáctico-like” player.
