Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted his side was fortunate to escape with a 2-0 loss against Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash on Wednesday night.
The Reds were second best for most of the encounter, with PSG dominating proceedings and putting themselves in a commanding position ahead of the return leg.
Goals from Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in either half sealed the victory for the French champions.
Despite the disappointing result, Slot expressed optimism about his team’s chances of staging a comeback in the second leg at Anfield.
Speaking after the match, he said, “Looking back at the whole game, I think we’re lucky to only be losing 2-0.
“The first goal was tough to take.
“I think it’s good for us that we’re still in the competition and we know how strong Anfield can be for us.”
