Abuja resident doctors confirm partial implementation of demands, insist indefinite strike continues

0

The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA), has confirmed the payment of some outstanding salary arrears and allowances owed to its members.

The Doctors, however, says its ongoing indefinite strike in solidarity with the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors will continue until all demands peculiar to its members are fully met.

ARD-FCTA president Dr. George Ebong disclosed this in a statement to DAILY POST on Wednesday.

The association confirmed that 28 doctors who had been owed salary arrears ranging from one month to one year were paid two nights ago.

It added that some doctors received their Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), though 47 of the 150 doctors who were due for the allowance are yet to be paid.

Dr. Ebong commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as the beginning of the implementation of their demands.

However, he stressed that resolving only a portion of the issues is not enough to call off the strike.

Ebong noted that the association remains open to dialogue and acknowledged ongoing engagements with the National Assembly and FCTA management.

“Two nights ago, the 28 doctors who had been owed their salary arrears for more than two years, ranging between 1 month to 6 months to 1 year, were paid.

“Also the MRTF of some doctors was also paid. Out of 150 doctors owed by the MRTF, only 103 were paid; there is a remainder of 47 doctors not yet paid.

“Salaries were also paid yesterday (Tuesday) starting from the morning time.

“We are indeed grateful to the Honourable Minister for the beginning of the implementation of demands.

“These demands are very pertinent to this strike and are also the prerequisite to the suspension of this strike both at the NARD level and also at the ARD-FCTA.

“While we are grateful for the dialogues that we have been involved in at the National Assembly and the FCTA management, we hope to find a lasting solution to the lamentable situation of our healthcare system.

“Finally, the management and the government should not always wait for a strike to occur before scampering to listen to our yearning.

“Our sincere appreciation once more to the HM FCT, Nyesom Wike, for his leadership and commitment to our country as we continue to work together to ensure that we continue our commitment to the welfare of our patients while we as health professionals are not neglected (again).

“However, the indefinite strike will continue until the rest of our demands are met,” he stated.

Unmet demands

The association outlined several conditions that must be met before the strike can be suspended both at the national level (NARD) and within the FCTA. These include:

Immediate payment of MRTF for the remaining 47 doctors.

Payment of salaries owed to external resident doctors for 6–7 months.

Settlement of longstanding skipping arrears.

Payment of overdue promotion arrears.

Payment of post-Part II conversion arrears.

Implementation of the CONMESS 25 percent /35 percent adjustment is already in effect in federal institutions.

Payment of the approved wage award.

Settlement of 13 months’ hazard allowance arrears dating back to 2021.

Immediate employment of additional healthcare workers.

Improvement of working conditions across FCTA health facilities.

Indefinite strike

Nigerian Newssphere reports that ARD-FCTA joined NARD in an indefinite industrial action since November 1, Saturday 2025, over unmet demands.

ARD-FCTA recently lamented the implementation of its demands despite the approval by FCT Minister, Wike.

Nnamdi Kanu is dying – BRGIE  bars Anambra election, declares three-day sit-at-home in southeast

0

Biafra Republic Government In Exile has said Anambra general election on November  6, 2025 will not hold in the south-east Nigeria.

This comes as BRGIE declared a three-day sit-at-home in south-east Nigeria over the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

BRGIE, in a statement by its acting Prime Minister, Ogechukwu Nkere, said the sit-at-home would hold on November 6, 7, and 8, 2025, respectively.

This comes as the pro-Biafra agitator vowed that the governorship election will not hold in Anambra State on November 6th, 2025, due to its sit-at-home.

BRGIE noted that Biafrans remained resolute on its exit from Nigeria.

According to the pro-Biafra agitator, it based the decision on the Nigerian security agency’s denial of Nnamdi Kanu’s access to medical attention and the imprisonment of its prime minister, Simon Ekpa, in Finland.

BRGIE commended United States of America President, Donald Trump for declaring Nigeria as a ‘Country with Particular Concern’ over alleged Christian genocide.

It noted that the next move is for the US under President Trump to sanction Nigerian government and leaders.

“The Biafra Republic Government In Exile (BRGIE) wishes to remind all Biafrans and Nigerian politicians parading themselves in old Anambra that the Biafra de facto government in the homeland of Biafra had issued no elections in Nigeria in Anambra, lockdown 6, 7 and 8 November 2025.

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Biafra, was kidnapped in Kenya & is dying in DSS detention as they denied him access to medical facilities because Biafrans had voted to exit Nigeria and unanimously declared their independence on 2nd December 2024 in Lahti, Finland.

“Prime Minister Simon Ekpa has been imprisoned by Finland through the efforts of Igbo politicians working with the Nigerian government and the European Commission.

“Any attempt to conduct this illegality in Biafran territory will meet a brick wall from the Biafran people, these foolish slave governors, senators & leaders of the South-east in Nigeria working for Islamic jihad proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra are seeking independence as a terrorist organisation, while they clap for Boko Haram as they carry out genocide on Christians, and then the federal government pays them daily.

“If the American lawmakers and President Donald Trump could place importance on our lives in the southeastern part of Nigeria, the Biafra Territory, by listening to our pleas in Washington, D.C., through our lobbying efforts of BRGIE, by finally applying sanctions & measures against the Nigerian Islamic state. Yet our own corrupt politicians working for their personal and family pockets care less, which means we have to send them out to join the Boko Haram sects in Sambisa Forest.

“50,048,916 Numbers of Biafrans Voted yes to exit Nigeria in our 2024 concluded self-referendum, and 517 delegates ratified the Declaration of Independence restoration of Biafra on 2nd December 2024. We are going forward & not backwards. There will be no Nigerian Elections in Anambra because this is Biafra territory.

“The Biafra Republic Government in Exile and De Facto in Homeland hereby appreciates President Donald Trump and the U.S. lawmakers for designating Nigeria as a country of particular concern. This is just the beginning of the steps to wiping out the Islamic jihadist terrorists. More are coming to Nigerian government officials working to kill entire Christians and Biafrans. We have achieved our first mandates in Washington, D.C., and next is to sanction and ban all politicians involved in the forceful disappearances, massacre, genocide, and also kidnapping of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“Kidnapping Mazi Nnamdi Kanu can’t stop Biafra, imprisoning Simon Ekpa can’t stop Biafra, as Nigeria can see now that BRGIE is gaining more momentum than before and the sky is our limit on Biafra independence,” BRGIE said in a statement released to the Nigerian news sphere.

Recall that last week, Trump threatened possible military action against Nigeria over the alleged killing of Christians.

Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission, has announced November 6, 2025, as the Anambra guber election.

US: Ugandan, Zohran Mamdani makes history as New York’s first Muslim mayor

0

Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist, has been elected mayor of New York City.

Mamdani, who will become the first Muslim mayor in the city’s history, triumphed over former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa in a fiercely contested race that captured national attention.

The election was called shortly after polls closed at 9 p.m., following a record voter turnout, the highest in a New York mayoral race since 1969, with more than two million ballots cast before the close of voting.

Born in Uganda, Mamdani’s rise from a relatively unknown state assemblymember to the incoming mayor of New York City has stunned political observers and disrupted the traditional political establishment.

His campaign, built around progressive and socialist ideals, has sparked widespread debate about the city’s future direction.

U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier described Mamdani as a “communist,” warning that his administration could cut off federal funding to New York should the Democrat take office.

Trump had publicly endorsed Cuomo, his longtime political rival, during the campaign.

A recent poll conducted by JL Partners for the Daily Mail revealed unease among residents about Mamdani’s victory.

According to the survey, nine percent of New Yorkers said they would “definitely” leave the city if he won, while an additional 25 percent, about 2.12 million people, said they would “consider” relocating.

UCL: Why Real Madrid lost 1-0 to Liverpool- Xavi Alonso

0

Following the Real Madrid 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday’s Champions League fixtures, Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has explained the major reason for the loss at Anfield.

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has said that Liverpool’s ability at set pieces made the difference in their Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

Alexis MacAllister scored the winner in the first half, heading a free kick past Thibaut Courtois.

Speaking after the game, Alonso admitted that his team struggles to deal with set pieces, and Liverpool took advantage.

“Set pieces are what we concede the most goals from,” Alonso told the media.

“I think it could have been avoided today. They pressed us a lot.”

“They have skilled forwards in executing set pieces and finishing them. They created a lot of chances because we made a lot of mistakes.”

The defeat is the first Madrid have suffered this season in the Champions League, after winning their first three fixtures.

Abubakar Muktar calls for immediate arrest of thugs mobilized to PDP National Headquarter

0

A member of the Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria movement from the Katsina Chapter, Abubakar Muktar, has issued a strong warning following the invasion of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Headquarters by thugs allegedly sent by Sam Anyanwu and a group loyal to Nyesom Wike.

Muktar stated that the hired thugs, mobilized from the Zone 4 office, stormed the PDP secretariat in a clear attempt to intimidate party officials and disrupt peace within the party. He described the act as shameful, provocative, and a total insult to the ideals of the PDP.

I am calling on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the State Security Service to immediately arrest and investigate everyone involved in this disgraceful attack. The PDP is not a playground for political thugs, and such actions will no longer be tolerated, Muktar warned.

He further cautioned that if such sponsored acts of violence continue, the movement and its members across the country will not hesitate to expose those behind the crisis and hold them responsible for any breakdown of order within the party.

According to Muktar, the PDP must not be reduced to a gathering of lawbreakers serving the selfish interests of a few. He urged the party’s national leadership to take decisive action and send a clear message that indiscipline and thuggery have no place in the PDP.

We shall lead a protest to the United States Embassy if the intimidation by lawless individuals is not checked by Nigeria’s security agencies. We call on the Inspector General of Police to act immediately before we proceed to the United States Embassy, Muktar added.

The Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria movement remains committed to restoring peace, unity, and accountability in the party and will continue to resist all forms of internal sabotage against its democratic structure.
