1. President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday led a galaxy of Nigeria’s elite, including former Presidents, to Daura, Katsina State to pay their final respects as the nation laid to rest the ex-military Head of State and two-term democratically elected President, Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari died in London on Sunday.
2. It was an exciting moment for Nigerians on Tuesday when President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, announced plans to reduce the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, also known as cooking gas. He also promised to start direct sales of the product to consumers should the existing distributors fail to allow the price crash in cooking gas.

A former spokesperson for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign, Yunusa Tanko, has declared that the former Anambra State governor will contest the 2027 presidential election — with or without the coalition ticket of the African Democratic Congress. Tanko made this known during the second Annual Colloquium in honour of Associate Professor Abdulmumin Ajia in Abuja, on Monday.

Some opposition political parties in Lagos State have called for outright cancellation of the Saturday’s Local Government Elections in the state, describing the exercise as undemocratic and daylight robbery. The parties, including the Labour Party, Young Progressives Party, African Action Congress, Action People’s Congress, and the Accord Party made the call at a joint news conference on Tuesday in Lagos.
5. At least 27 farmers, including men and women, have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack by gunmen in Bindi-Jebbu of the Tahoss community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. Villagers said the attack, which occurred on Monday, also left many people injured, with several rushed to hospitals, including the Jos University Teaching Hospital and Plateau Hospital.
