Hull City clinched promotion to the Premier League after defeating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Championship play-off final on Saturday.
The Tigers became the first club since Blackpool to finish sixth in the regular Championship season and still earn promotion to the English top flight.
The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time when Oli McBurnie capitalized on a costly goalkeeping mistake to score the winner in the 94th minute.
Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn punched a cross into a dangerous area, allowing McBurnie to react quickest and prod home from close range.
Hull City will now join Coventry City and Ipswich Town in next season’s Premier League campaign.
For Middlesbrough, who were reinstated into the play-offs following Southampton’s “Spygate” controversy, the defeat means another season in the Championship.
