Senator representing Oyo South, Sarafadeen Alli, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Oyo State.
Alli secured a total of 578,143 votes to defeat former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who polled 19,193 votes, alongside another aspirant in the contest.
Meanwhile, the national body of the APC is yet to release official results of the primary as of filing this report.
Following the outcome of the primary election, the Okanlomo Odua and Bada Olubadan, Dotun Sanusi, congratulated Alli on what he described as a landslide victory.
In a statement, Sanusi said the result reflected the confidence and trust the people have in Alli’s leadership and vision for the development of Oyo State.
According to him, “Victory reflects the people’s trust, confidence, and overwhelming support for your leadership, vision, and commitment to the progress of Oyo State.
“We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the entire APC family, ROCOF/JDS group, market men and women, and all loyal supporters whose dedication, prayers, and steadfast commitment made this victory possible.
“Today’s victory is not just for one person, but for every progressive voice yearning for a better and prosperous Oyo State. May this be the beginning of greater victories ahead as we move united, stronger, and more determined.”
Meanwhile, Adelabu has alleged that the primary election was marred by manipulation of results.
