The All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Screening Committee for Rivers State has declared Ogundu Kingsley Chinda as the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the state governorship election.
Chinda was announced as the winner on Thursday evening at the APC secretariat after the collation of results from wards across the 23 local government areas of the state.
Chairman of the Screening Committee, Barrister Bitrus Kwamoti, who announced the outcome of the primary election, said Chinda secured a total of 268,497 votes to emerge victorious.
Kwamoti described the exercise as peaceful and successful, while commending party members for their orderly conduct throughout the process.
Nigerian Newssphere earlier reported that all is clear for Chinda to clinch the APC gubernatorial ticket following Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Tonye Cole, and others’ withdrawal from the race on Wednesday.
