Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after an outstanding campaign for the Red Devils.
The Portuguese midfielder scored eight goals and registered 20 assists, matching the record for the most assists in a single Premier League season previously set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Fernandes claimed the award for the first time in his career and became the first Manchester United player since Nemanja Matic in the 2010/11 season to receive the honor.
He is now the seventh United player to win the prestigious award, joining club legends such as Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Wayne Rooney.
The 31-year-old had earlier been named Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and now adds another major individual accolade after helping Manchester United qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
