‘Undoubtedly racist’: Trump praises rich oil arab nations but slander black countries- Shehu Sani

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has condemned United States President Donald Trump for what he described as racially offensive comments about Somalia.

Sani said it was “unconscionable” and “undoubtedly racist” for any world leader to refer to a “dignified people as ‘garbage’” or claim that their country “stinks.”

According to the former senator, Trump’s remarks about Somalia were even more derogatory than his previous comments directed at Nigeria and South Africa.

In a post on his X handle on Wednesday, Sani accused the U.S. president of openly praising oil-rich Arab Gulf nations while reserving slander for Black countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

He wrote:

“What Trump said about Somalia is actually worse than what he said about Nigeria and South Africa. How can a world leader call a dignified people ‘garbage’ and even say their country ‘stinks’? This is unconscionable and undoubtedly racist. Praises for oil-rich Arab Gulf states and slander for sub-Saharan Black countries is unacceptable.”
