The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Egor constituency lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru, to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee following a series of viral videos showing her in heated exchanges with her husband, Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia.
Osawaru was given one week to appear before the committee to address concerns about her conduct in the videos, which have stirred widespread public debate.
The controversy began during an Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze. During the session, 2Baba’s former managers, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, accused Osawaru of attempting to take “full control” of the singer’s finances and career. Their comments prompted 2Baba to abruptly join the livestream, warning them to stop discussing his personal life. Moments later, a heated off-camera exchange between the couple was overheard.
Another clip that has circulated widely appears to show Osawaru shouting at 2Baba inside a London store, further fueling the discussion online.
At Tuesday’s plenary, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku condemned the lawmaker’s behavior, stating that her actions had “dragged the name of the House into the mud” and caused the assembly to trend negatively on social media.
“This is a very decent house with responsible and intelligent members,” Agbebaku said. “The conduct of a member cannot bring the assembly into disrepute. We frown at this and we will not take it.”
The Ethics and Privileges Committee is expected to present its findings to the House within two weeks.
Nigerian Newssphere reports that 2Face was arrested in UK after clash with wife Natasha in London.
