Middle East war: US ‘Terrorist State’—Kim Jong Un

0

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has labeled the United States a “terrorist state” and accused it of engaging in state-sponsored terrorism.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim made the remarks on Monday while concluding a session of the country’s parliament.

Despite his criticism, Kim indicated that Pyongyang remains open to peaceful coexistence if its adversaries adopt a similar approach. However, he reaffirmed that North Korea will continue to strengthen its nuclear weapons program.

“The United States is a terrorist state,” Kim declared.

KCNA also reported that the two-day session of the Supreme People’s Assembly approved several constitutional amendments, though only one change was disclosed—the removal of the term “socialist” from the “Socialist Constitution.”

The report did not clarify whether the revisions incorporated broader anti-South Korea policies previously advocated by Kim.

Meanwhile, state media coverage on Tuesday largely centered on domestic priorities, including ideological and economic reforms. In a lengthy address, Kim called for restructuring the Ministry of Social Security into what he described as the country’s first fully developed “police” force.

1.Governor Seyi Makinde reportedly convened an emergency meeting with key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State on Monday. The meeting, initially slated for 7 p.m. at the Agodi Government House, was later relocated to the Local Government Training Centre within the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

2.The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai before both federal and state high courts in Kaduna over alleged corruption-related offences. In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission said El-Rufai and one Joel Adoga would be arraigned at the Federal High Court in the Kaduna Judicial Division on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

3.The Kwankwasiyya Movement has confirmed that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) National Leader and 2023 presidential flagbearer, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is in talks with the African Democratic Congress and the National Democratic Congress. The movement’s spokesperson II, Mansur Kurugu, disclosed this to Daily Trust on Monday, noting that the discussions could lead to a possible alignment of the platforms.

Nigerian filling stations slash Petrol Prices

0

Some filling stations across Nigeria have reduced their retail petrol prices amid growing competition in the downstream sector.

Checks by Nigerian Newssphere on Monday revealed that Ranoil and Empire Energy stations cut their pump prices to N1,370 and N1,383 per litre, down from N1,440 and N1,430, respectively.

The adjustments represent price reductions of N70 and N37 per litre.

A station manager, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the move was aimed at staying competitive in the country’s fuel market.

Meanwhile, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and MRS filling stations are currently dispensing petrol at N1,361 and N1,367 per liter, respectively.

The price cuts come amid a sharp drop in global crude oil prices, which fell by nearly 10 percent to $100.2 per barrel for Brent and $88.85 for West Texas Intermediate. The decline follows confirmation from US and Iranian authorities of ongoing talks to ease tensions and halt escalation in the Middle East.

The sustained drop in crude prices has raised expectations that the Dangote Refinery may soon reduce its gantry price, which recently stood at N1,245 per liter after multiple increases recorded in March.

PDP: If you can’t fight, don’t start it—Wike mocks Makinde

Wike Minister of FCT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday mocked Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

Wike said the Oyo governor will not have started a fight that he can not win.

Wike spoke during the 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja.

He expressed disappointment over remarks allegedly made by Makinde during a recent visit to Bauchi State concerning the government and judiciary.

“Unfortunately, I was watching my friend Seyi Makinde when he went to Bauchi, where he said we had government and judiciary; it’s so unfortunate,” he said.

The FCT minister warned against venturing into political battles without the required capacity, drawing a distinction between business interests and political authority.

“A fight you can’t fight, don’t start it. Politics is not contractor vision; they are two different things. I didn’t want to be a contractor, I wanted to have power while you wanted money,” he stated.

Wike stressed that financial success through contracts does not equate to political influence.

“You had contracts of over $1 million, then stay there. This is my own territory; remain a contractor. Contracts and politics are not the same thing. Being a contractor does not make you a politician; they are two different things,” he said.

He further suggested that Makinde’s political rise was supported by others, adding that his camp would firmly defend its influence.

“We are the ones that gave you everything, and you then became the governor, and today you are known. We are here to play, and if you are not ready, go home and rest.

“It’s our territory, so we have to protect it. We just want to make it clear that no blackmail will change us,” Wike said.

Iran confirms talks with Trump to end war

0

Diplomatic efforts to end the weeks-long conflict are in progress, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, confirmed on Monday.

Baghaei said messages conveyed through friendly nations had been answered in accordance with Iran’s “principled positions.” He added that Tehran’s response included “necessary warnings” over the consequences of any continued strikes on its key infrastructure.

According to him, any attack targeting Iran’s energy facilities would trigger a “decisive, immediate, and effective response” from the country’s armed forces.

The mediation initiative is being led by Egypt, Pakistan, and Türkiye, with efforts underway to organise formal talks in Islamabad or another capital later this week.

Iran’s delegation is headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while the United States was represented by envoys of President Donald Trump, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who is also involved in the process, has held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the commencement of negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

Speaking on the talks, Trump said both sides are “having really good discussions,” adding that Iran has “one more opportunity to end its threats to America and our allies, and we hope they take it.”

Despite the diplomatic push, Washington has not altered its military posture. The U.S. United States Central Command confirmed on Monday that it continues to carry out precision strikes on Iranian military targets while also proceeding with plans to deploy additional Marines to the Middle East.

Where is your court order, Do you want to disgrace me- Malami confronts EFCC officers[Video]

0

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, was involved in a tense exchange with operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during an early morning raid at his residence in Abuja.

In a video circulating online, Malami is seen questioning the legitimacy of the operatives’ presence, repeatedly demanding to see a valid court order authorizing their actions.

“Where is your court order?” he asked firmly. “Do you want to disgrace me?”

The EFCC officials reportedly told him they had the right to mark the property, claiming it was under investigation.

However, Malami pushed back, arguing that any such order permitting their actions had already expired.

“You said the property is under probation, is it still under probation when the order has elapsed?” he queried.

“You were at my other house earlier this morning, and now you are here again. Why?”

He further challenged the operatives to present clear legal backing for their actions.

“The order you are referring to is not specific. It does not give you clear directives to come and mark my property,” Malami said.

“This matter is already pending in court. Show me where it is stated that you have the authority to be here.”

DAILY POST had earlier reported that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday stormed a house belonging to Malami in Abuja, forcing those present to leave.

The incident occurred shortly after former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, visited the Maitama residence. He reportedly spent about an hour there before leaving.

It went perfectly—Trump reveals details of talks with Iran

0

United States President Donald Trump has revealed that ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran have produced significant areas of agreement, expressing optimism about a possible resolution.

Trump made the remarks on Monday while speaking to reporters in Florida, noting that discussions between both sides have been underway for two days. He had earlier indicated that Iran agreed to never develop a nuclear weapon.

According to the president, talks will continue over the next few days, with Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, actively involved in the negotiations.

“We have had very, very strong talks. We’ll see where they lead. But we have points—major points of agreement, I would say, almost all points of agreement; perhaps that hasn’t been conveyed,” Trump said.

“The communication, as you know, has been blown to pieces. They’re unable to talk to each other. But we’ve had very strong talks. Mr. Witkoff and Mr. Kushner had them. They went, I would say, perfectly. I would say that if they carry through with that, it’ll end that—that problem, that conflict—and I think it’ll end it very, very substantially.”

When pressed on who the US is engaging with in Iran, Trump declined to provide specifics, saying, “a top person.”

“Don’t forget, we’ve wiped out the leadership in phase one, phase two, and largely phase three. But we’re dealing with a man who I believe is the most respected and the leader,” he added.

Trump also clarified that he is not in talks with Mojtaba Khamenei.

Zidane next managerial job revealed

0

Former player Zinedine Zidane is on the verge of becoming the next head coach of the France national football team, following a reported verbal agreement with the Fédération Française de Football (FFF).

According to ESPN, Zidane is expected to take over from current manager Didier Deschamps, who is set to step down after a remarkable 14-year tenure in charge of the national team.

Zidane, 53, has been without a managerial role since ending his second spell with Real Madrid in 2021 and has long been tipped as the natural successor to Deschamps.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid midfielder is expected to be officially unveiled after France’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The final hurdle before formalizing the deal reportedly concerns the composition of his backroom staff.

Meanwhile, FFF president Philippe Diallo hinted at the impending appointment during an interview with Le Figaro on Sunday, saying he already knows who will replace Deschamps, though he declined to reveal the name.
