‘Tinubu’s govt diverts N800bn FAAC funds for 2027 elections’- Salihu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has alleged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu diverted N800 billion from Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds for preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Salihu made the allegation on Wednesday while speaking during an interview on Prime Time, a program aired on Arise Television.

The former Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) claimed that the figures were based on reports linked to the World Bank as well as information from sources within government circles.

According to him, the allegations warrant a forensic audit and greater transparency in the management of public funds.

“These figures were not concocted or manufactured. They were extracted from an existing international agency report—the World Bank,” Salihu said.

“We also have sources within government. Even as they believe they have total control of the system, there are credible individuals within the structure who provide us with information.

“What we are saying is that the issue of this N800 billion is very serious. These are funds belonging to a sovereign nation already burdened by hardship, poverty, and deprivation.

“We expect the government to deny the allegation, but it should go further by providing full disclosure on the figures,” he added.
