Governor Peter Mbah has kept mum as several women of the Ezimo community in the Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State on Saturday took to the streets to protest the alleged kidnapping of five residents and the shooting of another during an attack on the community.

Marching through major roads in the area, the protesters said the incident had deepened fear and insecurity, leaving residents anxious about their safety. One victim of the attack is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

The development was revealed by social media influencer “Sen.” Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, who shared details and videos of the protest on Facebook. According to him, residents who confirmed the incident said recent cases of abductions and shootings had made the community unsafe, prompting the women to demand immediate government action.

In the video posted online, the protesting women called on the Enugu State Government and security agencies to intervene urgently and restore peace, warning that the community could no longer endure persistent threats and attacks.

Ugwuanyi described the protest as a “cry for help,” noting that the women were appealing for protection and swift intervention to secure the community and end the growing wave of insecurity.

Grant Nnamdi Kanu presidential pardon- Nigerians in Germany to Tinubu

Nigerians in the diaspora, under the aegis Ndi Igbo Germany(NIG), have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to show compassion by granting presidential pardon to the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The plea followed an emergency meeting of the association held on November 21, 2025, in Frankfurt, Germany, where members expressed deep concern over the reported life sentence handed down to Kanu by a Nigerian court.

In a communiqué on Friday jointly signed by Chief Benjamin Chinaka, National Coordinator, and Chinasa J. Ezeji, Secretary General, the group warned that the judgment could deepen ethnic tensions and worsen the nation’s fragile political climate.

“Nigeria is currently grappling with serious security and socio-political challenges. At such a delicate time, this judgment may further widen divisions among ethnic groups and undermine democratic cohesion,” the statement read.

“We respectfully appeal to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to exercise his constitutional prerogative of mercy and grant a presidential pardon to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”

Ndi Igbo Germany noted that many of Kanu’s long-standing grievances reflect the frustrations of ordinary Nigerians—particularly in the South-East—who feel economically disadvantaged, politically marginalized, and insecure within the current national structure.

They stressed that several of the security concerns Kanu repeatedly highlighted are still evident across the country, underscoring the need for inclusive dialogue and genuine reconciliation.

The group also warned that Kanu’s continued incarceration could heighten tensions in the South-East and deepen distrust between the region and the federal government at a time when the nation requires unity and stability.

The group urged President Tinubu to “take a magnanimous decision in the interest of national unity, peace, and stability,” adding that releasing Kanu could be a pivotal step toward rebuilding trust in the Nigerian project.

Expressing confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, Ndi Igbo Germany said they believe the President remains committed to justice, equity, and national unity.

Their appeal adds to growing domestic and international calls for a reconciliatory approach in addressing separatist agitations and regional discontent in the South-East.

Lawyers and analysts have hinted that presidential pardon for Kanu could offer the government an opportunity to extend an olive branch and foster national healing.

Nigerian Newssphere reports that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court convicted Kanu and sentenced him to life imprisonment for terrorism-related offences, after which he was transferred to the Sokoto Correctional Facility.

Nigerian workers honour DG NIMC for capacity building, welfare

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has presented the Director General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. (Dr) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, with an Award of Excellence in Capacity Building and Staff Welfare.

According to a statement by NIMC spokesperson Kayode Adegoke, the award—conferred by the National Executive Council of ASCSN—recognises Coker-Odusote’s exceptional leadership, particularly her commitment to staff development, welfare, and institutional reforms.

NIMC DG with Staff

The DG, who was recently honoured by the Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) for Innovation in Service Delivery, has introduced a transformative 5-Point Agenda since assuming office, placing staff welfare and capacity-building at its core.

Key achievements under her administration include the promotion of over 3,000 staff, implementation of a 25–30% salary increase approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and extensive training programmes covering all staff levels. She also initiated executive retreats, management workshops, and other welfare-driven interventions.

In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, Coker-Odusote has deployed more than 2,500 systems nationwide to boost NIN enrolment, provided modern computers and workstations for critical departments, and improved workplace infrastructure. Additional staff-focused initiatives include free staff bus services, a new car park project, and facilitation of access to government food palliatives.

Her open-door policy and constructive engagement with labour unions have fostered strengthened collaboration within the commission.

Describing the award as a reflection of the DG’s “rare sincerity and sensitivity to the yearnings of workers,” the ASCSN commended her for policies that have improved productivity, enhanced working conditions, and deepened social dialogue.

The honour, the association noted, underscores both her achievements and her commitment to sustaining excellence in public service delivery.

EPL Matchday 13: Four Fixtures Where Shock Results Could Emerge

0

This weekend’s Premier League action promises high drama as clubs jostle to tighten their grip on the table. By the close of Matchday 13, one-third of the season will be gone—making every point more crucial.

While the spotlight is firmly on the headline clash between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge— a game that could confirm whether Mikel Arteta’s side are title frontrunners or if Chelsea are genuine challengers—there are several other fixtures ripe for potential upsets.

Here are the matches where surprises may unfold:

1. Manchester City vs Leeds United
Manchester City slipped in the title race after a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle last weekend. They now host inconsistent Leeds United. However, with City becoming worryingly ordinary whenever Erling Haaland fails to score, a slip-up at home is not out of the question.

2. Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham
Spurs are reeling from a 4-1 defeat in the North London Derby and a 5-3 Champions League loss to PSG. With poor home form haunting them this season, hosting a stubborn Fulham side could spell more dropped points for Thomas Frank’s team.

3. Crystal Palace vs Manchester United
United’s shocking 1-0 loss to 10-man Everton remains one of their lowest moments this season. Goals have dried up for Ruben Amorim’s side, who now face the league’s second-best defence at Selhurst Park. Another upset may be looming.

4. West Ham United vs Liverpool
Arne Slot dominated the league last season, but this campaign has humbled the champions. With Liverpool losing nine of their 12 matches so far, their visit to an improving West Ham under Nuno Espírito Santo could deliver yet another tough afternoon for the Reds.

DSS silent over summon of Peter Obi’s running mate, Baba-Ahmed for Incitement against Tinubu

0

The Department of State Services (DSS) has remained silent amid reports that it summoned Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, over comments deemed capable of heightening political tensions.

The alleged invitation, reported on Friday, concerns remarks Baba-Ahmed made during recent media appearances, where he repeatedly warned of an impending “constitutional crisis.” Baba-Ahmed, who is also the founder of Baze University, has been vocal in criticizing the conduct of the 2023 election and its aftermath.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, unnamed security sources confirmed that authorities were alarmed by some of Baba-Ahmed’s statements. One source claimed that during a recent televised interview, the Labour Party chieftain accused the judiciary and the military of facilitating the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. He was also said to have suggested that the military had been emboldened to “look you in the face and call you bloody fools” because of the swearing-in.

“The secret police is treating his comments with caution. This is not about politics but about safeguarding the corporate existence of the nation,” one of the sources reportedly said.

As of press time, the DSS has neither confirmed nor denied the alleged invitation.

Baba-Ahmed was the Vice presidential running mate to Peter Obi at the 2023 election.

Nnamdi Kanu identifies fears in Sokoto prison- Bishop Egbuonu

Right Reverend Ikechukwu Egbuonu, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Oji River in Enugu State, has expressed concern over the health and legal challenges facing Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), following his recent visit to the agitator at the Sokoto Correctional Facility.

Speaking in an interview with AIT, Bishop Egbuonu said Kanu complained about a worsening heart condition and raised fears about his ability to effectively pursue his appeal due to the long distance between Abuja and Sokoto.

The Bishop explained that Kanu insisted he ought to be in Abuja to reconcile his records with the High Court before filing his appeal, noting that without this process, the Court of Appeal cannot entertain his case. Kanu reportedly expressed worry that he has only a 90-day window to perfect his appeal but has not received any directive for his temporary transfer to Abuja.

“He was not happy that no signal had been given to bring him to Abuja to reconcile those documents and return him to Sokoto,” the Bishop said.

Egbuonu added that Kanu was also distressed over limited access to his legal team. He said the IPOB leader complained about difficulties communicating with his lawyers regarding some filings and issues under contention.

On reports suggesting Kanu had sacked his lawyers, the Bishop clarified that the claim was false. “No, he didn’t sack his lawyers,” he said. “He only chose to defend himself in this case and retained the lawyers as consultants. They were still working with him — one of his lawyers even arrived with me during the visit.”

Despite the challenges, Bishop Egbuonu noted that Kanu appeared calm and composed in custody.

Trump ends all Executive Orders under Biden’s admin

0

US President Donald Trump has announced the cancellation of all Executive Orders and official documents he claims were signed by former President Joe Biden using an autopen.

In a statement posted on Truth Social on Friday, Trump declared that any document “signed by Sleepy Joe Biden with the Autopen, which was approximately 92% of them, is hereby terminated, and of no further force or effect.”

He argued that the use of an autopen is invalid unless explicitly authorized by the sitting president, alleging that Biden “was not involved in the Autopen process.”

Trump also accused what he called “Radical Left Lunatics” of effectively taking the presidency away from Biden, insisting those who operated the autopen acted “illegally.”

He further warned that if Biden asserts he personally approved the autopen use, “he will be brought up on charges of perjury.”

The claims have drawn widespread attention, though no official clarification or legal response had been issued at the time of this report.
