The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has married Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh.
The development was announced on Friday by Abraham Double-D Dajoh in a Facebook post on behalf of the Dajoh family. In the statement, the family formally welcomed Queen Zaynab into their fold and congratulated the SGF on the new union.
“We, the entire Dajoh family, happily join our daddy, uncle and brother, His Excellency, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume Jugu Dajoh, in welcoming his new and uncommon wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh, into the Dajoh family,” the post read.
The family also thanked supporters of the SGF for their continued goodwill, urging them to sustain their support as he embarks on this new chapter of his life. They further wished Nigerians a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.
In the message, Queen Zaynab was welcomed to Benue State, described as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” as well as to Mbakor, regarded as the seat of leadership of the Tiv nation, and to the Dajoh family home.
Queen Zaynab, formerly known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor, was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Their marriage was contracted in a traditional ceremony on March 12, 2016, in Benin City, Edo State, followed by a thanksgiving and reception at the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The union later ended in August 2017.
Akume’s marriage comes amid heightened national attention on Nigeria’s security situation, following recent developments including reported United States airstrikes on terrorist targets in the country’s northwest and subsequent public anxiety triggered by explosions in parts of Kwara State.
