Ned Nwoko: Why I lost interest in marriage—Regina Daniels

0

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has revealed that she is no longer interested in marriage following her reported separation from her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

Despite her stance on marriage, the actress said she still hopes to have more children, stressing that she is determined to have a daughter someday.

Speaking during a recent livestream with TikToker Jarvis, Daniels explained that she believes daughters are more caring towards their parents in old age.

According to her, she plans to have six children and currently has two sons.

“I want to have six children, and I already have two boys. It sounds crazy, but for some reason, I have checked my mind out of getting married. But I am going to have a girl and I must have a girl,” she said.

The actress added that men often become more focused on building their own families after marriage, while women tend to maintain stronger ties with their parents.

“Men will grow, get married, and focus more on building their families. But for women, she will always remember home,” she added.

Regina Daniels and billionaire politician Ned Nwoko got married in 2019, a union that generated widespread reactions because of the nearly 40-year age difference between them. Daniels was 19 years old at the time of the marriage.

Tinubu, Atiku set for 2027 presidential showdown

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is set to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election after emerging as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Atiku secured the party’s ticket on Wednesday after polling 1,846,370 votes to defeat former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in the party’s primary election.

However, both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen rejected the outcome of the exercise, alleging that the primary was manipulated in favor of Atiku.

Speaking during his acceptance speech, Atiku declared that he was ready to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.

According to him, President Tinubu should “pack and return to Lagos.”

The development comes barely three days after President Tinubu clinched the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential ticket with 10.9 million votes during the ruling party’s primary election.

With the conclusion of the APC and ADC primaries, the stage appears set for a major political contest between Tinubu and Atiku ahead of the 2027 general election. Tinubu presents the South, while Atiku presents the North geopolitical bloc.

Attention is now shifting to the Nigerian Democratic Congress primary, where former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is also expected to contest.

Tinubu’s daughter rejects APC primary results

The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and daughter of President Bola Tinubu, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, has threatened to mobilize a protest over the outcome of the recently concluded All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries in Lagos State, alleging that the exercise was manipulated in favor of the Justice Forum faction of the party.

Tinubu-Ojo made the remarks on Wednesday during the weekly meeting of market leaders and stakeholders held at her office in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

She questioned the results announced for Mushin Federal Constituency II, Agege Constituency II, and Ojokoro Constituency, insisting that the declared outcomes did not reflect the actual results of the primaries.

The Lagos APC had on Monday released the names of candidates who emerged from the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The list, signed by the Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, showed that 24 candidates secured House of Representatives tickets, while 40 candidates emerged for the Lagos State House of Assembly elections.

Among those announced as winners in the state assembly primaries were Mojisola Meranda for Apapa I, Musibau Lawal for Apapa II, Barakat Bakare-Odunuga for Surulere I, and Damilola Ayinde-Marshall for Surulere II.

However, Tinubu-Ojo urged APC leaders at both the state and national levels to investigate the disputed primaries before the final ratification of the results, warning that unresolved grievances could worsen divisions within the ruling party.

She maintained that some aspirants, including Hon. Seye Oladejo in Mushin Constituency II, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo in Agege II, and Olotu Ojo in Ojokoro Constituency, genuinely won the primaries and should not be denied their mandates.

“We are ready to protest because of Seye Oladejo of Mushin Federal Constituency 02, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo of Agege 2 constituency, and Olotu Ojo of Ojokoro constituency because we know they won this election. Their mandate should not be given to somebody else,” she said.

Tinubu-Ojo also warned that the growing rivalry between the Justice Forum and Mandate Group factions within the APC could threaten the unity of the party ahead of the 2027 governorship and general elections.

“We have to cry out now. Let APC cancel Justice and Mandate Forums. We are one family. We are for APC. Now, they are using Justice Forum and Mandate because our candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, belongs to the Justice Forum. Everyone is now joining the Justice Forum because they believe that is where the incoming governor belongs. Are we not Lagosians? We are all APC,” she stated.

She added that political leaders must ensure fairness and inclusiveness within the party, regardless of factional affiliations.

Tinubu-Ojo further reaffirmed the support of market women across Lagos State for the governorship ambition of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and other APC candidates.

According to her, traders and market stakeholders remain a major voting bloc in Lagos politics and deserve greater inclusion in governance and political appointments across the state.

Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM or VeryDarkMan, has reacted to the presidency’s threat of legal action over a viral video allegedly containing a fake audio of President Bola Tinubu.

The controversy followed the circulation of a doctored video on social media in which an AI-generated voice purportedly mimicked President Tinubu.

“I will not defend the allegations. If I respond, let God punish me. I want to face that law. I will even book a flight to come earlier than I plan. I want to see what you people can do,” he said.

“You are so stupid I know. Say, ‘Una don get me for mind and things part of an agenda.’ You see this audio? I will not defend it. You no dey shame,” he added.

VDM maintained that criticizing the government was his democratic right, insisting that he would continue to speak out when necessary.

“If you are pained that VDM is speaking, what option do I have other than to speak? It is my right to criticize the government when it is doing wrong. We are in democracy,” he added.

The presidency has vowed to ensure that social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, faces prosecution for allegedly sharing an AI-generated audio clip purportedly featuring President Bola Tinubu.

According to reports, an X user identified as @Pious_minister pointed out that the audio used in one of VDM’s videos was artificially generated.

The controversial audio allegedly featured a voice resembling President Tinubu saying that insecurity in Nigeria would persist because Nigerians did not vote for him during the 2023 presidential election.

Reacting on Wednesday, presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga condemned the circulation of the clip, describing it as a serious misuse of social media platforms.

In a post shared on his official X handle, Onanuga said VDM should face the full weight of the law for allegedly disseminating false content about the president.

“This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu,” he wrote.

He added, “This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform.”

Pantami was announced as the party’s candidate on Tuesday during a gathering attended by former Gombe State governor and senator, Ibrahim Dankwambo.

The former minister reportedly secured the PDP ticket after withdrawing from the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary and subsequently approaching PDP leaders in the state to seek the party’s governorship nomination.

BREAKING: Trouble for Tinubu as Court clears Jonathan to contest 2027 presidential election

0

A Federal High Court in Abuja has cleared former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The development comes days after a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, reportedly granted Jonathan a waiver and endorsed him as the party’s sole presidential candidate.

The court ruling followed a suit filed by Johnmary Jideobi, who sought an order restraining Jonathan from presenting himself to any political party as a candidate in the 2027 presidential election.

The plaintiff had also asked the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from accepting, processing, or publishing Jonathan’s name as a presidential candidate.

Jideobi urged the court to determine whether Jonathan, in line with Sections 1(1), (2), (3) and 137(3) of the 1999 Constitution, remained eligible to seek the office of president again.

However, delivering judgment on Tuesday, Justice Peter Lifu held that Jonathan remains eligible to participate in the election as a contestant.

The development poses a serious threat to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Recall that President Tinubu got over 10 million votes to clinch the ruling All Progressives Congress presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general.

Tinubu and Jonathan are from the same geopolitical zone, southern Nigeria.

‘Nigeria haven’t overborrowed like Egypt, South Africa, Senegal—Presidency

President Tinbu

The presidency has said that Nigerians can still take more loans to finance infrastructure across the country.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said this in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Tuesday.

Onanuga said that Nigeria has not overborrowed compared to countries like Egypt, South Africa, and the West African country of Senegal.

He was reacting to criticisms that the current administration of President Tinubu has borrowed more in three years than the previous administration did in eight years.

“Nigeria has not overborrowed compared to countries like Egypt, South Africa, and the West African country of Senegal.

“Nigeria is creditworthy and can still take more loans to finance infrastructure.

“The unwarranted alarm against loans is symptomatic of economic and financial ignorance,” he said.

DAILY POST reports that at the moment, Nigeria’s total public debt stands at roughly N159 trillion, split between external and domestic obligations.
