The family of veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has reported a TikToker to the Department of State Services over a viral video falsely announcing the actor’s death.
The move followed public denials by the family and the actor’s management, who described the report as untrue.
Nigerian Newssphere reports that the actor’s first son, Leo Edochie, had earlier dismissed the claim in a viral Instagram video, insisting that his father is alive and healthy.
In a Facebook post on Thursday evening, Leo said he had formally contacted the DSS to secure the arrest of the TikToker behind the post. He added that security operatives were already tracking the individual.
Leo also announced a cash reward for anyone with credible information that could help identify and arrest the TikToker, whom he named and displayed in a photo accompanying the post. He urged members of the public to share useful details privately, promising immediate payment once the suspect is apprehended.
“This young man posted a video on TikTok that our father is dead. His handle is @ONE_BOR001.
“Anyone with information that will lead to his arrest will be handsomely rewarded in cash. I have contacted DSS, and they are on his trail. DM me with the information; as soon as he is arrested, you will get your reward in cash,” he stated.
