The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco has set a new benchmark in the tournament’s history, emerging as the highest-scoring AFCON ever with 120 goals recorded so far.
The record was achieved ahead of the third-place playoff between Nigeria and Egypt, as well as the final showdown featuring hosts Morocco and Senegal.
The latest tally eclipses the previous high of 119 goals set at the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire. Prior to that, the 2019 edition in Egypt produced 102 goals, following the tournament’s expansion from 16 to 24 teams.
Several of Africa’s leading stars have played key roles in the goal-fest at the 2025 finals. Morocco’s Brahim Díaz currently tops the scoring chart with five goals.
He is closely trailed by Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, who have both found the net four times to contribute significantly to the historic scoring run.
