Nigeria’s Super Falcons have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt on Wednesday night.
The defending champions took the lead in the first half when Asisat Oshoala calmly converted from the penalty spot.
Nigeria doubled their advantage in the 55th minute through Gift Monday before Egypt reduced the deficit after N. Ghazy converted a penalty.
The Super Falcons quickly regained control of the contest, with Uchenna Kanu making it 3-1 in the 81st minute.
Three minutes later, Chidinma Ucheibe scored from the penalty spot to extend Nigeria’s lead to 4-1.
Ghazy grabbed her second goal of the match in stoppage time to give Egypt brief hope, but Nigeria responded in emphatic fashion as Rasheedat Ajibade and Joy Omewa found the back of the net to complete a comprehensive 6-2 triumph.
The victory secures Nigeria’s place in the last eight, where the Super Falcons will take on Group D winners Cameroon for a place in the semi-finals.
