8,990 telecom subscribers ported from one network provider to another from June to August 2023 alone.
This figure was contained in industry statistics by the Nigerian Communications Commission.
Accordingly, mobile network operators recorded 2,321, 4,077 and 2,592 outgoing porting in June, July and August, respectively, totalling 8,990 in the period under review.
9mobile recorded the highest number of outgoing porting, which stood at 6,480. This means 9mobile subscribers were reduced by 6,480 due to poor quality of service.
On the other hand, MTN recorded the lowest number of subscribers who ported to other network providers, which stood at 612.
890 Airtel and 1008 Globacom network subscribers were ported in the same period.
Meanwhile, an analysis of inward porting figures showed that 6,628 telecom subscribers ported to MTN from other network providers between June and August 2023.
Consequently, MTN had maintained a lead in the subscribers’ market, which stood at 38.58 per cent, followed by Globacom at 27.86 per cent, Airtel(27.30 per cent) and 9mobile(6.26 per cent).
