1. The All Progressives Congress Screening Committee for the Osun State governorship primary election has disqualified seven aspirants, including former deputy governor and APC National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore, immediate past Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke, and Babatunde Haketer Oralusi.

2. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, attributed the recent defection of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and 15 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC to the deepening internal crisis within the PDP. Speaking with journalists after inspecting ongoing road projects in Abuja, Wike said the defections reflected the level of factionalisation in the party.

3. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has handed over N96.5 million to victims of ponzi schemes in Enugu State. Its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. Oyewale said the step was in line with the anti-graft agency’s commitment to combating economic and financial crimes and ensuring restitution for victims of fraudulent schemes.

4. The era of fuel queues is gone forever in Nigeria, according to Africa’s richest man and the Chairman of the Dangote Refineries, Aliko Dangote. Addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, Dangote said for the first time, the refinery is supplying to Europe and US.

5. Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa Rtd, has said that though the road ahead to combating banditry, terrorism and other security challenges will be tough, the shedding of innocent blood by bandits, terrorists and other criminal elements must be brought to an end. He spoke in the presence of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Olufemi Oluyede, the Service Chiefs and the Chief of Defence Intelligence as well as Directors of the Ministry of Defence while assuming office at the Ministry of Defence.

6. Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (retd) has warned that creating new security agencies will not solve insecurity in the country. Irabor urged Federal Government to do an in-depth investigation of the country’s security situation, saying existing agencies in charge of security suffer from intelligence gaps, manpower, equipment and coordination issues.
