First Lady and Senator Oluremi Tinubu has appealed to voters in the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Mrs Tinubu made the appeal on Wednesday in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during her official visit to the region as part of a women’s empowerment programme.
She said she was committed to contributing to the development of Nigeria and expressed her desire to enjoy a better country in her later years.
“Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better,” she said.
The First Lady added, “I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age.”
Mrs Tinubu explained that the empowerment initiative was being implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to her, the programme is expected to benefit 18,500 women across the country when completed.
She said 500 women from each of the five South-East states would receive items to support and expand their businesses. The equipment includes generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens.
The First Lady said the initiative was part of efforts to empower women economically and improve livelihoods across the country.
