Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), less than 24 hours before the party’s scheduled governorship primary election.
A letter conveying his decision surfaced on Monday, though it was dated November 4, 2025. In the letter, Adeleke cited the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP as his reason for exiting the party.
“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the governor stated. He also expressed gratitude to the party for backing his previous electoral victories as Senator for Osun West and later as Governor.
Confirming the growing turmoil, Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, announced that the party would no longer hold Tuesday’s primary election due to internal factional disputes. He added that Adeleke had withdrawn his interest in seeking the PDP ticket amid the escalating crises.
