In a gallant move, Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, have neutralized no fewer than 61 terrorists suspected to be members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a report shared on X on Monday.
According to him, the operation took place in Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, when insurgents attempted to infiltrate the area in the early hours of Wednesday.
Makama stated that the attackers advanced on foot and deployed armed drones in an effort to breach the defenses of troops stationed at the 68 Battalion. However, they were met with stiff resistance from Nigerian forces.
Quoting military sources, he noted that coordinated air and ground operations played a critical role in repelling the assault, as troops were able to effectively track, engage, and eliminate a large number of the insurgents.
The latest development comes amid renewed concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the state, where several lives have recently been lost in attacks by armed groups.
