Maiduguri bombings: Tinubu’s govt killing Nigerians, he’s failure—Amaechi

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of failing to protect Nigerians and their property, following a deadly bombing in Maiduguri.

In a statement released on Tuesday through his media office, Amaechi condemned the Monday night attack, describing the Tinubu-led government as “abysmally incompetent” and lacking the leadership required to ensure citizens’ safety.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain extended condolences to the victims’ families, lamenting that Nigerians continue to suffer losses while those in power “live lavishly and ostentatiously” without taking decisive action to curb insecurity.

“This government is killing Nigerians. I reiterate, President Tinubu’s government is killing Nigerians, literally destroying lives. He has failed in the most fundamental responsibility of safeguarding the lives of the citizens of this country,” Amaechi said.

He described the Maiduguri bombing as more than a tragic incident, calling it “a severe indictment of a leadership that has become complacent, incompetent, and indifferent to the suffering and deaths of Nigerians.”

Amaechi further accused the government of ignoring the worsening security situation across the country, noting that citizens are left to grieve while authorities offer “insincere statements and empty promises.”

“While families grieve and communities live in fear, those in power issue insincere statements and make empty promises. They simply move on as if nothing has occurred. Tinubu would prefer to dine and celebrate in London while Nigeria suffers. They simply do not care,” he added.

Questioning the government’s response to insecurity, Amaechi asked how many more lives must be lost before meaningful action is taken, stressing that insecurity has become a daily reality for ordinary Nigerians.

He maintained that citizens deserve safety, peace, and dignity, not “negligence and ongoing excuses,” warning that leaders who cannot guarantee security have no business remaining in power.

Amaechi also sympathized with residents of Borno State and families of the victims, describing their losses as devastating and blaming the government’s failure to protect them.

Declaring that “enough is enough,” he urged President Tinubu to step down over what he described as the administration’s inability to secure the nation.
