FIFA has dismissed reports claiming its president, Gianni Infantino, promised Morocco the right to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final.
Speculation had emerged suggesting Infantino offered Morocco the hosting rights for the tournament’s final as he seeks to strengthen support for his position.
However, football’s world governing body described the claims as “false and misleading.”
In a statement, FIFA said: “It is false and misleading to claim the FIFA President has made any promise in relation to hosting the FIFA World Cup 2030 Final.
“A decision will be made by FIFA in due course.”
The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with Spain reportedly keen to stage the tournament’s final.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese Football Federation declined to comment when contacted by TalkSPORT.
