American rapper and social media personality Darryl Dwayne Jr., widely known as DDG, has said he believes Nigeria is far less dangerous than the United States.
DDG shared his view on Thursday via a post on X while visiting Lagos, pushing back against the long-standing perception that Nigeria is an unsafe country.
According to the rapper, the United States poses greater security risks, particularly due to the frequency of gang-related violence.
“I think America is the most dangerous country there is, to be honest. I don’t think Nigeria is as dangerous as America, nowhere near,” he wrote.
Drawing from his experience in Nigeria, DDG noted that his time in the country did not reflect the negative narratives often associated with it. He also urged potential visitors not to be discouraged by stereotypes and misleading reports about safety in Nigeria.
