The Presidency has dismissed as false and misleading viral claims alleging that a member of the kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was arrested over a plot to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, debunked the allegation on Sunday through his verified X account. He shared the circulating video and categorically denied its content.

The viral footage, which purportedly shows scenes from the Presidential Villa, features a narrated claim that a chef within the presidential complex was apprehended in connection with an alleged poisoning attempt targeting the president.

In the video, the narrator alleged that the supposed arrest followed intelligence reports of suspicious activities related to food preparation in restricted areas of the Villa. It further claimed that a special police squad intervened swiftly and that heightened security measures were implemented to safeguard the president.

The narration also stated that the suspect was taken into custody for questioning while investigators examined evidence linked to the alleged plot. It added that authorities handled the matter discreetly to prevent public panic and urged citizens to remain calm as investigations were said to be ongoing.

However, responding to the claims, Onanuga firmly rejected the story, describing it as fake news.

“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video,” he wrote.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official indication regarding the origin of the video or the motive behind the circulation of the unfounded

War: Ayatollah Khamenei, 47 other Iranian leaders killed in US-Israel strike

United States President Donald Trump on Sunday said more than 48 Iranian leaders had been eliminated in the ongoing U.S.-Israeli military offensive, describing the operation as highly successful.

Speaking during an interview with Fox News, Trump said the strikes had dealt a significant blow to Iran’s leadership.

“Nobody can believe the success we’re having; 48 leaders are gone in one shot. And it’s moving along rapidly,” he stated.

The military action, which began on Saturday, is aimed at dismantling the leadership structure of the Islamic Republic and weakening its military strength.

Iran has confirmed the death of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, following the bombardments.

In a separate interview with CNBC, Trump expressed optimism about the progress of the operation.

“We’re doing our job not just for us but for the world. And everything is ahead of schedule,” he said. “Things are evolving in a very positive way right now.”

However, the interviews were conducted before the U.S. military announced its first casualties in the conflict. United States Central Command confirmed that three service members were killed, five others sustained serious injuries, and several more suffered minor wounds.

The command also disclosed that American forces sank an Iranian warship docked in the Gulf of Oman as part of the ongoing military operations.

President Donald Trump on Saturday confirmed the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, following reports of a strike in Tehran.

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump stated that Khamenei was unable to evade United States intelligence and advanced tracking systems. He said the operation was carried out in close coordination with Israel.

“The supreme leader was unable to avoid our intelligence and highly sophisticated tracking systems, and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do,” Trump wrote.

Earlier Nigerian Newssphere reports had indicated that Khamenei died after an Israeli strike targeted locations in Tehran.

Trump described Khamenei as “one of the most evil people in history,” adding that his death delivered justice to Iranians, Americans, and others around the world whom he claimed suffered under his leadership.

The US president further disclosed that other Iranian leaders were killed in the operation. He also alleged that members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with additional military and security officials, were seeking immunity from the United States.

According to Trump, some figures within Iran’s security establishment were no longer willing to continue fighting.

Trump dragging US, American people into war with Iran—Kamala Harris

Former United States Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has strongly criticized US President Donald Trump over the escalating conflict with Iran.

In a statement posted on her X account, Harris condemned the US and Israel strike against Iran.

She accused President Trump of dragging the United States into a war that Americans do not support.

Harris declared her strong opposition against a regime-change war in Iran.

She warned that US troops are being placed at risk over what she called the president’s “war of choice.”

“Donald Trump is dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want. Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice,” she wrote.

Her comment follows Trump’s confirmation that US and Israeli joint forces carried out strikes on Iranian targets. Iran responded with retaliatory attacks on American military bases in the Middle East.

The attacks and retaliation have heightened tension in the oil-rich region.

Amid the rising tensions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed there are signs that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, may have been killed in a joint US-Israeli strike.

However, as of the time of filing this report, Iranian authorities have not confirmed the death of Khamenei.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei confirmed dead in US-Israeli strike

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly died following a United States and Israeli airstrike in Tehran.

According to Fox News, Israeli leaders confirmed that Khamenei’s compound and offices were reduced to rubble early Saturday after a targeted strike in downtown Tehran.

A senior analyst, Behnam Ben Taleblu, director of the Iran program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), described Khamenei as a calculating leader.

“Khamenei was the contemporary Middle East’s longest-serving autocrat. He did not get to be that way by being a gambler.

“Khamenei was an ideologue, but one who ruthlessly pursued the preservation and protection of his ideology, often taking two steps forward and one step back,” Taleblu told Fox News.

The reported development comes amid escalating tensions in the region, following coordinated military actions involving Israel and the United States against Iranian targets.

Born on April 19, 1939, in Mashhad, eastern Iran, Khamenei was among the Islamist activists who played a central role in the 1979 revolution that overthrew the US-backed Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quoted as claiming there were indications that Khamenei had died, although official confirmation from Iranian authorities was still being awaited as of press time.

EPL Table: Man City cut Arsenal’s Lead to Two Points after victory over Leeds

Manchester City have reduced the gap between them and Arsenal to just two points after edging Leeds United 1-0.

The Gunners had earlier stretched their advantage at the top of the table to five points following a commanding 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.

Despite being outplayed for much of the first half at Elland Road, City struck the decisive blow. Rayan Ait-Nouri surged down the left flank before delivering a cross that Antoine Semenyo converted, a goal that ultimately sealed the win.

The victory moves City to 59 points, with both sides now having played the same number of matches.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s men will look to respond when they host Chelsea on Sunday evening.

War: Israel PM’s Netanyahu reveals three signs Iranian leader Khameini is dead

0

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed there are indications that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, may be dead.

Netanyahu made the assertion during a televised address on Saturday evening, stating that Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Iran would continue “as long as it is needed,” adding that the conflict would ultimately result in “true peace.”

According to him, “such a murderous regime” should not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons capable of “continuing to threaten the entire humankind.”

“We would like to thank the brave Iranian people that they are being freed of those horrific ties with that regime,” Netanyahu said.

He added that airstrikes had destroyed Khamenei’s compound, declaring, “Signs show that Khamenei is no longer with us. All indications show this tyrant is no longer with us.”

The statement contradicts earlier claims by Iran’s foreign ministry, which maintained that the Supreme Leader and the country’s president were “safe and sound.”

Addressing what he described as the “courageous” Iranian people, Netanyahu said the strikes would help them “unshackle themselves from tyranny.”

He said Iranians now have a “once in a generation chance” to overthrow the regime and urged them to “take to the streets en masse” to “get the job done.”

“It is high time you come together and unite for a historic mission,” he said.

“This is an opportunity to do something. Do not sit with your arms crossed, because this moment will come and you will be demanded to go out on the streets in the masses, because you have to complete this work, and you have to bring down and eradicate this regime.”

Netanyahu further stated that Israeli forces had successfully targeted senior figures involved in Iran’s nuclear program as well as other top officials.
