NCC Hosts Digital Economy Awareness Forum to Boost Innovation and Inclusion in Nigeria

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to host the inaugural Digital Economy Awareness and Sensitization Forum, a major event designed to drive innovation, inclusion, and equitable participation in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

This was disclosed in a statement by NCC’s spokesperson, Nnenna Ukoha

Scheduled for November 13, 2025, the forum, themed “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” will bring together policymakers, industry experts, innovators, and community leaders to discuss strategies for closing the digital divide and expanding access to digital resources nationwide.

Championing a Digitally Inclusive Future

The NCC says the Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora will serve as a platform to build Infrastructure for Innovation and Inclusion (I4I) — a key step toward strengthening Nigeria’s digital transformation framework.

Key discussion areas will include:

  • Designing inclusive digital policies

  • Promoting affordable and accessible infrastructure

  • Developing digital literacy programs for underserved communities

  • Ensuring affordability and digital equity across all demographics

Empowering Nigeria’s Youth and Digital Workforce

Africa is home to the world’s youngest population, with more than 60 per cent under the age of 25. Recognizing this, the NCC aims to leverage Nigeria’s youthful demographic as a catalyst for innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.

With over 140 million Internet users, the NCC remains committed to ensuring a safe, accessible, and inclusive digital space, encouraging full participation in Nigeria’s digital economy. The forum will engage stakeholders from government, academia, the private sector, and civil society to explore solutions for empowerment, digital equity, and national development.
