The Nigerian currency recorded a marginal appreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Naira strengthened to N1,378.43 per dollar on Thursday, compared to N1,379.07 recorded on Wednesday.
The latest figures indicate that the local currency gained 64 kobo against the greenback on a day-to-day basis, reversing the depreciation recorded in the previous trading session.
At the parallel market, however, the Naira traded flat at N1,430 per dollar, unchanged from Wednesday’s rate, according to a Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, Abubakar Bengazzi.
The improvement at the official market comes as Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves continue their upward trend, rising to $51.71 billion as of July 8, 2026.
The appreciation follows Wednesday’s decline, when the Naira weakened slightly against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
